Discussion
[edit]- Is there room for a comment about the reliability of the cameras? All of the Disc cameras I ever owned (all Kodak) died horribly with the motor running out of control, but I don't know if there was a general problem with that or not. Haikupoet 02:11, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- I understand that part of the appeal of the format is it permitted the shutter release to be in front of the camera, rather than on top of it. Kodak engineers had discovered that a large share of the prints developed showed vertical camera movement - not surprising for light consumer cameras with slow shutter speeds. Placing the shutter button in front permitted the camera movement to have less effect on the final print. Measure for Measure (talk) 19:51, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Introducing a new format also helped Kodak fight off competitive pressures from Fujifilm. Personally, I thought at the time that the 110 format made more sense for casual consumers, notwithstanding the shutter button placement issues. Reminiscences by a Kodak engineer in the comments here: http://gadgets.boingboing.net/2008/03/31/bad-old-days-kodak-d.html Measure for Measure (talk) 19:51, 7 August 2009 (UTC)
- Sure it was introduced in 1982? I could have sworn the one I received was on my 7th birthday, in July 1981. Stephanie Booth —Preceding unsigned comment added by 85.218.95.180 (talk) 09:28, 26 August 2010 (UTC)
