Can the NIH director be fired by the President for any reason?
[edit]In more recent years, U.S. presidents are beginning to replace more Federal agency directors for purely political reason and not on their ability to handle their job in a non-political way. In the past, the tenure of NIH director could span multiple presidential administrations and those directors tries to promote policies that are supported by independently reproducible scientific results.
