[edit]I deleted the text "a work that became a standard manual of syntax for over 1,000 years." because it contradicts my source (Robins 1967, p 30). KCargill 06:10, 21 July 2005 (UTC)
Is the contemporary Koine pronounciation guide completely valid? [djoˈny.sjos ho ˈtʰraks]? Personally I say [djoˈny.si.os ho ˈtʰraks], the first i becomes a j but not the second Δγιο-νύ-σι-ος. Might be personal idiosyncracy, just a note.
- Thanks for that correction. I would elide the koine guide. Average readers will twig how to pronounce Dionysius Thrax. It's just clutter.

- By the way, I put 'perhaps' in the substitutive line (with new source) because that evidently counts D.X's treatise to the 2nd century BCE, whereas, if Di Benedetto et al., are correct, the dating down to the 14th century (3-4 cent CE onwards would be, precisely, a millennium.Nishidani (talk) 13:38, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
Boh!?
[edit]Neil, these three have the same format as links. All three go to German pages, but the second alone comes up red.
Can you sort this out. I can't, being a firkin idjat. Nishidani (talk) 13:20, 11 March 2019 (UTC) (1) and (3) have entries on the English wiki but are defined 'de' here. Moritz Schmidt, unless I get time to do it, doesn't have an English entry, only German, and therefore the ILL template doesn't woik, whereas
- Moritz Schmidt does. Hmmm the synaptic entropy may have pull its plug on this geezer's grey matter, but it ain't yet (w)hol(e)ly drained of of its limber waters.Nishidani (talk) 13:28, 11 March 2019 (UTC)
