This article is written in Australian English, which has its own spelling conventions (colour, realise, program, labour (but Labor Party)) and some terms that are used in it may be different or absent from other varieties of English. According to the relevant style guide, this should not be changed without broad consensus. |
Name
[edit]Why is this at "Interbreeding...other domestic dogs"? Aren't dingoes feral, rather than domesticated? Seems like it would be better to call this "Interbreeding of dingoes with other domestic dogs". Nyttend (talk) 03:41, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
- This is confusing. This article implies that dingoes are a domestic breed as Nyttend points out, and also refers to free ranging domestic dogs. Should that not be feral dogs in the sense of domestic dogs which have gone feral? It also disregards the tendency of dingoes and domesticated and working station dogs to interbreed, and interbreeding of domesticated dingoes. All these scenarios are relevant and at this point the clumsy terminology of this article does not make this clear.
- Perhaps this section should be blended back into the main dingo article as it is a significant issue for the taxon and their most significant conservation threat. Djapa Owen (talk) 13:47, 10 October 2012 (UTC)

Move this article
[edit]Continuing from the discussion above under the section "Name" that has not been addressed. I do not believe that anybody is going to key into their search engine "Interbreeding of dingoes with other domestic dogs", which might explain why this article receives only 66 visitors per day. (I assume most of these visitors were lead here from the hyperlinked Dingo article.) Does anyone have any issues with a WP:MOVE of this article to a WP:COMMONAME of Dingo-dog hybrid? It would then be similar to the articles wolf-dog hybrid (wolfdog) and coyote-dog hybrid (coydog). The policy WP:MOVE advises that the reasons for initiating a MOVE include:
- The title does not follow Wikipedia's naming conventions, such as that it is not the common name of the subject or it is overprecise
- The title has been misspelled, does not contain standard capitalization or punctuation, or is misleading or inaccurate
I will wait a week in order to gather editor responses. William Harris • (talk) • 21:13, 8 December 2017 (UTC)
