New image

[edit]

At the moment a new image in the form of a physical badge on a black background is claimed to be the DD's flag. Is there a reliable source backing up this claim that the new image, be it a COA or flag, was indeed used by the DD? I find it a bit odd that it would predict its own demise. --PRODUCER (TALK) 15:07, 1 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Number of soldiers

[edit]
@Peacemaker67: In the article there is this information (Chetniks (Size c. 3,000). I have this information from RS "exist nine Chetnik detachments with total of 12,440 persons (unarmed persons were included" and "at the end of 1942 were transferred about 3,200 Herzegovinian and east Bosnian Chetniks, among whom was and the Zlatibor Chetnik detachment from Serbia which remained there until March 1943"[1] What do you think about it and whether it can be changed according to the source. The source seems fine, but only change the infobox, not the mention of 3,000 in the last section. Cheers, Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 22:43, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
I'd just add that this figure included unarmed people. It is therefore not a real measure of the strength of the division. Peacemaker67 (click to talk to me) 23:17, 16 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
There are several years in the existence of that division so there are probably and various number of soldiers. If I find more specific data from some source, I'll let you know, thanks. Mikola22 (talk) 07:52, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
@Peacemaker67: I found additional information and the source. "To know the dislocation, numbers and weapons of Chetnik groups outside annexed zone in the summer of 1942... certainly the main source of records was command of 18th Italian Army Corps. Records of Chetnik unit in northern Dalmatia, part of Lika and Bosnia. According to data collected by the intelligence service in August, the number of Chetniks in the area was about 12,500. However, according to that record only about 2600 were armed. However, the data provided by the 18th Corps command given in mid-September 1942 indicate a markedly different situation. According to this data, it is about 4269 people, armed with 4197 rifles, 7 machine guns and 35 light machine guns. At the same time, according to data provided by Roatt, in Lika and Gorski Kotar, where the 5th Italian Corps was stationed, there were three Chetnik battalions and two company with a total of 1250 men." [2] Problem with this source is that he the not talk specifically about Dinaric Division but only about the number of Chetniks in that area so I do not know where this information belongs? You are expert here, so I would ask for your opinion. Mikola22 (talk) 11:33, 17 June 2020 (UTC)[reply]
