It was derived from three Spanish words din, a, and lupia. Din signifies “cash, money” while a stands for “into”. Lupia means “small change”. When put together, Din-a-lupia translates to “Empty Lands”. From these three Spanish words, early settlers learned to call the place, Dinalupihan , its localized version in Tagalog. It was the name of the place even before. Dinalupihan became a regular municipality in 1865, separate from Hermosa.
This is falso, "din" has no meaning in spanish, "a" is a nexus, it can be translated as any nexus "lupia" does not mean anything in spanish.
This may be a local legend. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 84.18.1.169 (talk) 20:23, 16 May 2010 (UTC)
The origin of the name Dinalupihan is pure gibberish and lies in here!
[edit]The origin must be in line with a valid source not from a popular lies! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 121.54.42.146 (talk) 14:22, 5 April 2014 (UTC)
