Please expand this article. Does someone know what kind of radar is this? Has it a turnable antenna on its top?

This article is a bit presumptious in that ownership is indeterminable under existing protocols and international laws, moreover stands to divert page views from the dimona nuclear weapons site.

Why no relevance

The article is short. However, it is a military facility in a conflict area, so not much information is available. But the facility itsself is very remarkable, as its towers are with a height of 400 metres the tallest towers of Israel and taller than every man-made structure in the European Union. Further, they are probably the tallest towers used for radar purpose in the world. As radar facilities are usually installed in domes and not on supertall towers the radar is also very remarkale. The towers should not be condused with AN/TPY-2

Could we be more specific with the location? http://www.time.com/time/world/article/0,8599,1846749,00.html It is located at Har Karen (mount karen), this is near shivta and kitziot prison. The name Dimona radar facility is misleading (likely with reason). I have personally seen the Dimona Radar Facility while serving in the IDF. There is apparently one US radar facility in Israel, staffed with 120 US servicemen. But where is it? Near Dimona in the eastern Negev as this article would have it, or at Har Keren in the western Negev as other sources have it? Perhaps the two sites are part of the same system? Correct, the article was mixing two different facilities. This one is about the Dimona Radar Facility. Nothing to do with "AN/TPY-2 X-band radar, which can detect missiles up to 1,500 miles / 2,400 kilometers away" and which is "owned and operated by the US military, and provide only secondhand intelligence to Israel".
