The result of the move request was page moved. Keraunoςcopia 19:05, 17 October 2009 (UTC)
Lake Dillon → Dillon Reservoir — I contacted Denver Water by email and received this response: "The official name of the reservoir is Dillon Reservoir. It is the only name we use in any official capacity. Some folks may incorrectly call it Lake Dillon, but officially it is a reservoir rather than a lake and we label it as such. It may seem trivial to some to make the distinction, but we do." —Keraunoscopia (talk) 20:10, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- In addition, I was not able to make the move myself, because the page already exists, though it is currently acting as a forwarding link. —Keraunoscopia (talk) 20:12, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- Support. This does seem to be called Dillon Reservoir in most, but not all, sources. Lake Dillon should remain a redirect though, and mentioned in the lede, especially since it was a (much smaller) lake prior to 1961, according to the article. Station1 (talk) 21:47, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- Comment. What should matter here is not the official name but the name used most commonly to refer to the topic of the article. If everyone but government bureaucrats still mostly refer to it as Lake Dillon, that should be its title here in Wikipedia. --Born2cycle (talk) 22:44, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- I agree completely, but in this case Dillon Reservoir does appear to be the more common name, used by Denver Post, Rocky Mountain News, CBS, AP, among others (and has roughly double the google hits). Station1 (talk) 23:03, 12 October 2009 (UTC)
- That makes a much stronger argument for the move than what was presented in the proposal. --Born2cycle (talk) 02:09, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- Support Per Station1's argument just above here; per WP:COMMONNAME. --Born2cycle (talk) 02:09, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- Support Considering that the target name is both more common and official, this should be a no-brainer. --Polaron | Talk 20:29, 13 October 2009 (UTC)
- Well, looks like a consensus has been reached, but I'd like to request help with the move. The Dillon Reservoir page already exists; I don't know how to do the move otherwise (delete original page, then move? or merge? etc.). Κεραυνοσκώπηα (talk) 21:24, 15 October 2009 (UTC)
- OK, article moved. Sjakkalle (Check!) 10:46, 17 October 2009 (UTC)

Several questionable "facts"
[edit]This article is dubiously researched, particularly the intro paragraph. I'm not inclined to begin correcting it, but I do note the following:
- Old (pre-reservoir) USGS topo maps do not indicate any natural lakes in the vicinity of Old Dillon.
- The old townsite lies beneath fathoms of water, and is not visible.
- There were four highways leading out of Old Dillon; to which one is the text referring? Of these, only old US 6 heading east from Frisco is still used as a boat ramp.
- None of these old roads are "easily visible" from anywhere. Short segments of them are sometimes visible when the water level is extremely low.

Arctic Char
[edit]should the fact that Dillon reservoir is the only place in the lower 48 to offer Arctic char fishing and that relevant authorities are trying to turn this place into a "boutique fishery" be for char be mentionedKendoSnowman (talk) 11:29, 9 June 2015 (UTC)
