Rename this page?
[edit]Finally someone created a wikipedia page for DOAS. Thanks!!! However, why is the name of the page 'Differential absorption spectroscopy' and not 'Differential OPTICAL absorption spectroscopy'?--RolfSander (talk) 15:58, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
There is one on the German site, although this is not a translation of that page. It is based on a lab I did for my Master's degree. In keeping with the goals of an encyclopedia, I wanted to keep the article as general as possible--couldn't the technique be applied to frequencies outside the optical range as well? There doesn't seem to be any reason why not. Peteymills (talk) 17:54, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Yes, I know the German page. Still, I was surprised that there was no English page until now. Thanks again! In theory, I guess DOAS could be used outside of the optical wavelength range. However, since neither of us apparently has any examples of that, I think it would be better not to generalise it. Inside the atmospheric chemistry community, DOAS is very well know and I don't think anyone would try to find it under the term 'Differential absorption spectroscopy'--RolfSander (talk) 18:20, 28 April 2012 (UTC)
Missing Figure?
[edit]In the second to the last paragraph a description of "typical geometry" is provided - It refers to "the figure" which appear to be missing — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bubsir (talk • contribs) 14:20, 3 June 2022 (UTC)
