Diego Lopez (soccer) → Diego Lopez (soccer, born 2002) – The page Diego López features ten other people who play the same sport, but whose titles are "footballer" not "soccer". Oppose per WP:NCSP and WP:ENGVAR. That's not the way we disambiguate between "soccer players" and "footballers". This is unnecessary disambiguation as he is the only player referred to as a "soccer player" in the dab page. The rest are referred to as footballers due to regional dialects because their nations prefer the term "football" over "soccer". Yes, they all play the same sport, but the words "football" and "soccer" are not referred to each other interchangeably in each article about the sport in general. Article naming is the sum of two components, determination of primary topic (i.e. what topic should this title contain?) and optimal naming among the permissible choices (i.e. what title should this topic reside at?). "Diego Lopez (soccer)" is an accurate description of all the non-American footballers despite not being the ideal title for them, so they are in contention with the American soccer player for primary topic of that title. Think about it this way: Suppose there were only two Diego Lopezes, a Mexican footballer and a Spanish politician, both equally notable. In that case "Diego Lopez" would be a disambiguation and we would have articles at "Diego Lopez (footballer)" and "Diego Lopez (politician)". But is "Diego Lopez (soccer)" allowed to exist? Diego Lopez (soccer) → Diego Lopez (soccer, born 2002) – An RfC has just concluded establishing that "soccer" is insufficient disambiguation when other footballers exist. Hence I am re-proposing this move to comply with the updated WP:NCSP guideline. To reiterate the reason why "soccer" is insufficient: "Diego Lopez (soccer)" is an accurate description of all the non-American footballers despite not being the ideal title for them, so they are in contention with the American soccer player for primary topic of that title.
