So what is the origin of the name? Was it, as is so often true with geographical names, originally "Dick's Butte"? And who was Dick or Dicks? Enquiring minds want to know.Rags (talk) 06:35, 27 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]
The name was originally almost certainly Dick's Butte. The Geographic Names Information System has standardized names and now discourages the use of apostrophes. See #18 at their FAQs. As far as the origin of the name goes, I couldn't find an explanation online, although I looked.
