Born in Trieste?
[edit]I have a clear recollection of listening to parliament one day when Dick Klugman was speaking, and he mentioned that he'd been born in Trieste. There's nothing I can find on the web that backs this up. Any clues, anyone? -- JackofOz (talk) 00:13, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Psephos says here (search for "Klugman") that he was born in Vienna. Perhaps he was referring to visiting as a child or something? Of course, it is possible that Psephos could be mistaken, but as a special note is made (that he was the first person since 1917 elected to the House who wasn't born in the Commonwealth) that seems fairly unlikely. - Thanks. Maybe my memory cells need recharging. If I could remember roughly when this broadcast was, I could check the Hansard. Without a time frame it would be a daunting task ... unless it's possible to search Hansard by keyword without regard to timeframe? -- JackofOz (talk) 12:14, 1 June 2008 (UTC)
- Hmm. Not being a Hansard expert, I'm not sure, but I wouldn't think so (they're all individual PDF files). You might be able to find all Klugman's speeches though. I have no idea how. Frickeg (talk) 07:54, 2 June 2008 (UTC)

- Aha! I knew there was something about Trieste. OK, so he wasn't born there as such ... -- Jack of Oz ... speak! ... 08:25, 1 August 2010 (UTC)

[edit]This is written by Dick Klugman's widow. He was born in Vienna, but his family was from Trieste. There is some information in a book by Gianfranco Cresciani "Trieste goes to Australia," which has correct information. His parents divorced and his mother Ella Klugman married a man whose surname was Darvas.
