@Downsize43: According to the Qld Globe, what was the Diamantina Developmental Road between Mount Isa and Boulia now appears to be the Boulia Mount Isa Highway (with number 83), while going south from Boulia is still the Diamantina Developmental Road. So I have added the highway to List of highways in Queensland and to Template:Road infrastructure in Queensland (you might want to check I did that in the right way). But I think this article needs to be split to create an article for the new highway, if you are willing. Kerry (talk) 04:17, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

@Kerry Raymond: Both Qld Globe and Google show the road south from Boulia as Boulia Bedourie Road, not Diamantina Developmental Road. All the different road names (from Mount Isa to Charleville) are shown in the RJL in the article. I guess the redlinks you have added are OK but I am not in favour of splitting at this stage. Perhaps a redirect from Boulia Mount Isa Highway is the way to go for now. Cheers, John. Downsize43 (talk) 04:47, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Downsize43: Now that is interesting. Qld Globe shows the road immediately south from Boulia as both Boulia Bedourie Road AND Diamantina Developmental Road (if you use the Tools > Identify, two road entries come up), but then it comes up only as Boulia Bedourie Road down to Bedourie, after which it reappears as the Diamantina Developmental Road. Most confusing. As I am in the middle of trying to write geography sections for the Shire of Boulia, this is a nuisance if I cannot say for certain what the road is. How about we redirect both Boulia Mount Isa Highway and Boulia Bedourie Road onto the Diamantina Developmental Road article and add something in the lede along the lines of "The section from Mount Isa to Boulia is also known as the Boulia Mount Isa Highway and the section from Boulia to Bedourie is also known as the Boulia Bedourie Road". Would that work for you? Kerry (talk) 05:42, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]
@Kerry Raymond: Done. Downsize43 (talk) 11:08, 15 August 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Eromanga

[edit]

Just to clarify: The road passes through the locality of Eromanga but not through the town. Downsize43 (talk) 06:48, 11 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]

What is a gazetted road? What is a developmental road? 203.13.3.90 (talk) 22:58, 24 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@203.13.3.90: As far as I know, some roads are state-controlled roads but most roads are local roads. To be gazetted means the road has been listed in the Queensland Government Gazette which means it becomes a state-controlled road and not a local road. A developmental road generally means that a strategic need to connect some distant places has been identified and a fairly minimal road has been created to do this. Over time, developmental roads mostly tend to be upgraded to highway status (I presume as the traffic volumes warrant it), but usually retain the same name when they obtain highway status (that is, swapping Development Road for Highway in the name). So think of them as highways-in-the-making. Kerry (talk) 05:00, 26 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
