Source for 18 texts of smrti

[edit]

Kirankumars 21, I noticed your addition of the 18 texts of smrti. I was curious, from what source did this list come? If you could reference it, that would be wonderful! Thanks. IBW3 (talk) 01:27, 10 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Status of Dharmashastras

[edit]

The Dharmashastras are in the canon of Smriti texts only in the Smarta-Sampradaya, in this sampradaya there are only 10% Hindus. Other Sampradayas, i.e. most Hindus, generally do not include the Dharmashastras in the canon of Smriti texts. It's amazing how such a gross mistake could go unnoticed for so many years.
