Incorrect starting material in diagram
[edit]The synthesis route of van Tamelen is correctly described as starting from photolysis of the cis-1,2-dihydro derivative of phthalic anhydride. However the diagram shows photolysis of phthalic anhydride itself, with an extra two hydrogens mysteriously appearing during the photolysis. I have checked the cited 1963 paper by van Tamelen and Pappas - our article text is correct but the diagram shows the wrong starting material. Can someone redraw the diagram? - Yep, the image is incorrect, I can provide a new one in a few days V8rik (talk) 17:18, 9 September 2010 (UTC)
Hi V8rik... did you mean lead instead of palladium tetraacetate? --Rifleman 82 (talk) 21:21, 12 September 2010 (UTC)
- grrr, new version coming up...V8rik (talk) 21:33, 12 September 2010 (UTC)

Chemical structure of Dewar benzene
[edit]Is the C1-C4 bonding a pi bond not a sigma bond? This will be a special type of pi bond which will form without a sigma bond. In this way all carbons will be sp2 hybridised and the molecule will be planar. Apurva thatsit (talk) 09:17, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
- Its just normal sigma bond between two sp3 carbons. A little strained. --Smokefoot (talk) 16:49, 21 September 2024 (UTC)
