I added a number of in-line citations to support details & removed a number of unsourced or overly specific details / anecdotes about Gaines. Although the article is shorter, I believe the quality has been improved. Also the article now focuses more on the reason he is notable - his earning of 5 degrees simultaneously.
This is the largest single contribution I’ve made to Wikipedia to date, so I’m definitely open to and interested in feedback on my work.
