Wrong image
[edit]The image is not of the Devil's Hole the article is referring to. It is a Devil's hole in Florida, while the article is about one in Nevada, that looks like this: [1]. Kricke (talk) 08:30, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
- Ignore this, it was already removed. Did I get an 12 days old article from cache? Kricke (talk) 08:33, 28 May 2008 (UTC)
Wrong age
[edit]Current research suggests the endangered pup fish have only been at Devil's Hole for c. 500 years, not 10,000 as stated. [2]. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.84.1.189 (talk) 16:04, 14 February 2016 (UTC)
Charles Manson
[edit]Charles Manson was fascinated with the Devil’s Hole. "KCET". 2601:155:4200:1E62:517C:E772:506A:E880 (talk) 02:40, 21 November 2018 (UTC)
- It was also mentioned in this Frontline documentary that he wanted to build an underground city after the apocalypse at Devil's Hole. I feel that this is pretty significant and further research should be done to integrate it into the article. -Cin316 (talk) 05:30, 29 November 2018 (UTC)
Nearby Devils Hole Cave
[edit]There doesn’t seem to be nearly as much written about this cave which has an opening about 600’ from the Hole. Referred to in older papers as Devils Hole Cave #2, there seems to be no light reaching the bottom so no fish. It’s thought to connect to the Hole but nobody has found a passage. There was a recent underwater Ancient Caves documentary featuring it. Video on YouTube I found it on Google Earth. It’s actually 660’ away at 36°25'37"N 116°17'28"W. In an ideal world this could be a separate article, but limited sources would allow it to be merged into this article. Technophant (talk) 02:05, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
- Is it connected back to Devils Hole? If so, it would be a natural merge, because it's the really the same cave system. — hike395 (talk) 03:16, 31 January 2022 (UTC)
Is Browns Room connected to the surface?
[edit]A report about the Devil's Hole includes a picture (on page 28) with the caption
- Water level has been lower. Submerged folia in Browns Room demonstrate past stands of water table down to about a meter below present water level. The floating dead mouse serves as scale.
If there are mice within Browns Room then presumably they have brought plant matter and other debris from the surface. Has this been studied?
Descriptions of Browns Room generally indicate it's subterranean. Apparently it's in a hillside adjacent to the opening to Devil's Hole opening with the water level within Browns Room matching the level at the opening to Devil's Hole. A picture captioned "A diagram of Devil's Hole shared by the NPS in 1973." on a news article about the cave shows that the water surface level is the same for the opening to the system, within Browns Room, and within a third room labeled "C" at the right side of the picture. --Marc Kupper|talk 23:36, 19 August 2022 (UTC)

Pupfish language
[edit]Devils Hole is the only natural habitat of the Devils Hole pupfish, which thrives despite the hot, oxygen-poor water.
I don't think "thrives" is really the right word here. Any more appropriate verbiage? -MJ (talk) 21:26, 2 January 2024 (UTC)
