Conforming to a higher standard of quality...
[edit]Uh, there's an emoticon on the tail end of the last sentence of the first paragraph about Asato Tsuzuki. Not my fandom by any means, but I didn't think Wikipedia allowed emoticons. Mythicaldog 10:42, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
Missing Episode
[edit]In the Comcast On-Demand airing of this show, they skipped Sword of the King Part III. Did it pass the border into Yaoi Land? What is so bad that they skipped it?
Ugh!
[edit]First of all, it's "King of Swords: Part III", and the only(maybe not only -_-) person that's yaoi is Muraki. Seriously, Yami no mastuei is not "Yaoi Land"!!! A lot of people will attempt to hurt you if you say something like that. I should know, a lot of people love this show and/or manga.
The last manga volume totally had a yaoi scene in it. Too bad they were both unimportant 1-shot characters.... Muraki is the least yaoi chara; only wants Tsuzuki's body so he can restore his brother so he can kill him again & again (plus he already has a girlfriend). The romance star (with Tsuzuki dead center) includes Hisoka, Tatsumi, & the count. Watari accidently blurted out that he he was gay to a girl when they were talking about hair. Tatsumi could easily steal Tsuzuki for himself if he ever gets over his blame-game issues & low self esteem. In fact before the haitus, a group of fans were discussing how Tatsumi & Hisoka could become rivals while Tsuzuki remained oblivious.
RE: Ugh!
[edit]I have no idea what you're talking about with Watari saying he's gay. The only moment I can think of where this might have happened is in the GenSouKai arc in the middle of volume 9 when Wakaba-chan and Watari are talking about the weather's effects on their hair, as you mentioned the hair. What he blurts out is "you straights don't understand hair", basically. Viz's translation, at least. Theria.net translates it as "You straight-haired people don't know our pain".
Considering the context, Watari is definitely talking about hair, not sexual orientation. If he had been saying he was gay then obviously there would have been a much larger uproar within the series and by fandom.
When will Yoko Matsushita continue YnM???
[edit]Does anyone know exactly when YnM will continue? More than half of 2006 has passed... Has Hakusensha released any information regarding this?
It's nearly March of 2007. Only by sending snail mail inquiries to Viz & or Hakusensha, or the sudden appearence of a Matsushida homepage (unlikely given that she has only 1 manga series & hasn't written in years) will we find out.
She disappeared off the face of the earth. It's likely that she quit for some troublesome reason & got an office job, she could even be dead for all we know. There's hardly any information about her on the Japanese wiki. Plus, I recall that YnM was new when I read it the first time in the late 90s. I only know of one mangaka who took an almost-decade break from a title & returned to it, but she had a lot of titles under her belt (Aoike Yasuko). At least the woman who wrote DNAngel has picked up again, but it's really a shame that YnM had to end endlessly the way it did. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.19.236.142 (talk) 14:03, 10 October 2008 (UTC)
YnM
[edit]Well...they published volume 11 in May 2006...I've been noticing that they tend to publish each volume every two months...(yes...I am obsessed with Descendants of Darkness) Sooo...that means they should publish volume 12 soon now...THEY BETTER!
Not enough Info!
[edit]This page doesn't have enough on the manga. It doesn't mention that the manga was abandoned after volume 11 & that the mangaka never made another manga. Don't hold your breath for volume 12; much like Legal Drug, Ibu no Musukotachi, & Under the Glass Moon, this series is cancled. Volume 11 was published in Japan back in 2001.
I did hear however that Matsushida was supposed to have started volume 12 late this year, possibly pressure from her original Japanese publishers from American publishers.
RE: Not enough Info!
[edit]The manga wasn't abandoned after volume 11. Matsushita followed up with twenty-three more chapters (61-75) in Hana to Yume. These chapters, however, were never compiled into a tankouban and thus have not been translated into English.
In summer '05, Hana to Yume featured a side-story featuring Oriya and Ukyou. In winter '06, Matsushita had another side-story featuring Oriya and Ukyou in Hana to Yume. There was a side-story involving the daily life of Tatsumi Seiichirou, as well.
Sources
[edit]Do you have a source? Because you can't really add anything to Wikipedia without being able to cite your references (its not forbidden, just discouraged) And besides, I really hope its not canceled - it was such a great manga/anime...
P.S. - This is my first time on a discussion page, sorry if I mess up in some way...
Yaoi or Shōnen-ai?
[edit]Is this series Yaoi or Shōnen-ai? (and I mean by the standards defined in the wiki articles, basically: does it have explicit sex (yaoi) or no/barely sex (shōnen-ai). There is also no such thing as a 'yaoi' character, yaoi does not mean 'Japanese gay man'. Ninja neko 08:16, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
- Surely a 'yaoi character' is a character in a yaoi series. --Tyrfing 09:26, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
- Yaoi is porn, NC-17, rated R, smut. There is ONE yaoi scene in volume 11. Shounenai is also an outdated term, so it would be BL.
I see it as a shonen-ai series, going by the general definition of yaoi/shonen-ai; to my knowledge, there is nothing explicit shown (perhaps implied, perhaps shown but without explicit detail). If anyone wants to correct me on that, however, feel free: I'm hardly an expert on definitions.

- Read the latter volumes. Around the end, almost every guy in the series is in love with Tzuzuki, Wataru vaguely admits he's gay by a slip of the tongue durring a conversation about hair thoughit's more likely that he is bisexual like Muraki, Tatsumi & Tzuzuki have a blatant but unspoken love for eachother that they deny themselves & constantly tell the readers why they are "unworthy" of eachother, & the ever-growing relationship between Hisoka & Tsuzuki could migrate from one type of "partners" to the next....at least it would if the manga hadn't been dropped.
Concerning separate sections...
[edit]It has been mentioned that the article could be split into two: one titled 'List of Yami no Matsuei characters' and the main page ('Yami no Matsuei'). If this were to be the case, would there be enough on the main page to prevent it looking bare? Quite a lot of the information seems to be character-based, after all...
Incidentally, are there any plans for an episode guide? (I think that that would be quite useful, personally).

Is it REALLY on hiatus?
[edit]It's been almost 6 years, Matsushita hasn't done any manga at all since. Face it, it's canceled.
^^ We would need some ref to determine if it's true or not. for all we know it can be on hold, or still being developed. it could be canceled as well but we need a reference in order to add it.Bread Ninja (talk) 17:27, 19 January 2010 (UTC)
Matsushida's Health?
[edit]All ove the web, the 8 year hiatus is suddenly being credited to injury of the right hand. Is there a reliable source? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.17.118.100 (talk) 00:24, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Volume 12
[edit]Volume 12 in Japanese is available for purchase and seems to have been since 2010-01-19 [1] [2]. kess (talk) 10:33, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
- Looked around some more and while my understanding of Japanese is extremely crude it seems YnM have begun once again. Information on the August 1st number of The Hana to Yume is available from Natalie and a preview is available from the magazine’s homepage. kess (talk) 11:07, 20 July 2011 (UTC)
