In 2004 a consortium led by the Derbyshire County Council published a study about the feasibility of reopening the route through to Manchester. http://www.derbyshire.gov.uk/Images/derby-mancester-rail_main_report_full_tcm2-2
More recently in 2005, the Friends of the Derwent Vallay Line http://www.fdvl.org.uk/ have published theiir "Rail Users Strategy" in the face of deterioration of the infrastructure and of the service provided by the Train Operating Companies.
