refs had no date and authors

[edit]

None of the references had dates, and only 1 or 2 had authors. I've added them and cleaned up quite a bit.

  • Acessdates dont supplant dates.
  • Lack of authors is lack of transparency.

Half of sources are self-published; if one counted the 4 video posts on science channels and TED even more than half are self authored. This amounts to a lot of WP:primary sources.

To clarify: I love this work and don't question page notability, but from a wikipedia point of view this article was/is slightly exaggerating documented, third party notability. It needs more third party sources. --Wuerzele (talk) 17:14, 14 December 2014 (UTC)[reply]

It should be noted that Johann Sebastian Bach was a self-publisher. 2001:8003:A070:7F00:C583:B70:3C9A:FC91 (talk) 02:21, 27 June 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Use of Infobox YouTube personality

[edit]

It seems to make more sense to use the Infobox YouTube personality template rather than the regular Infobox person. It would allow for YouTube statistics and channel information since he is most known for Veritasium. The only problem would be that the YouTube personality infobox does not contain the "Known For", "Notable work", "Television", or "Awards" section. The only other section that is missing in the YouTube personality infobox is "Alma mater" but there is an "Education" section. I'm not an expert with templates/infoboxes so I don't know if they can be customized or not. —TheAnonymousNerd (talkcontribs) 01:49, 12 April 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed merge 05 April 2018

I propose that the article for Veritasium be merged into Derek Muller. It seems appropriate that the contents of the Veritasium article belong in a subheading of the Career section of the Derek Muller wiki page. The amount of content on Veritasium is limited and has not grown much. There are many channel statistics that are listed on the Veritasium article that are better replaced by a shorter summary in the text as most stats are already shown in the infobox on Derek Muller. I don't believe that there is a need to separate Veritasium from the Derek Muller article and his other channels and accomplishments/career, and there is no concern of the Derek Muller page being too long. —TheAnonymousNerd (talkcontribs) 00:25, 6 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, I'm going ahead with the merge as there does not seem to be any objection against it and it has been nearly a month. Will merge the Veritasium article into a section under "Career". —TheAnonymousNerd (talk • contribs) 04:30, 4 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]

$10k bet isn't that noteworthy

[edit]

I get that it's cool and all, but I'm not sure it's significant enough to be a part of the "Reception" section.

"inventor" of what?

[edit]

What I could find is https://www.veritasium.com/about and https://snatoms.com/ 2603:6011:9600:52C0:A136:9D44:AEB0:718A (talk) 03:38, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I agree "inventor" seems inappropriate for Muller and is definitely not a primary role. I'm going to ahead and remove that. --Cerebral726 (talk) 12:47, 7 September 2022 (UTC)[reply]
