In early 2008 Davis became the centre of controversy when he and sports retailer Joe Kirby became embroiled in an apparent domestic dispute in the Co. Dublin suburb of Portmarnock. The event took place on an open street with many eye witnesses accounting that the violence took place over a financial argument concerning a shipment of "Fruit of the Loom" sports tracksuits. A man "Tim Healy" made a statement to waiting reporters stating that Joe "only eyeballed him". A red van with the shipment was taken into Police custody.
