[edit]I am the one who has mostly been building this page. I am Denny Wright's son - hence the great deal of trivia.
My father changed his name from Wright to Freeth-Wright late in his life. I have changed my name back to Wright, so while his will did in deed say Freeth-Wright (and I'm amazed you knew that), he was always Denny Wright to fans, fixers and fellow musicians.
I was surprised that much of my recent editing was deleted.
The problem is that I cannot give sources for most of this that one could look up - they are taken from the 28 years I knew him. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Bluestrategist (talk • contribs) 09:05, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- Bluestrategist - Your recent editing was deleted by a "rogue editor" who has since been banned. I think you can restore it. However the article needs some structure, and it might be a good idea to separate the material that can be verified from your anecdotal experience. Pity you haven't written a published article that can be quoted with your name. Motmit 14:06, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
BBC Jazz Society Musician of the Year(s)?
[edit]"In 1980, Denny was voted the BBC Jazz Society Musician of the Year" -- "In 1981, Denny was voted BBC Jazz Society Musician of the Year" -- was it 1980, or 1981, or both? (or indeed neither? without sources it's just hearsay) -- it would help to have a reference to the BBC Jazz Society, as it does not have its own wp article -- i can find no reference to the BBC Jazz Society on the BBC's own web site, and no details of the Society elsewhere apart from half-a-dozen musicians claiming, or being claimed, to have received its awards -- was it perhaps a secret society? i look forward to former members of the Society revealing all -- Oniscoid (talk) 05:11, 31 December 2012 (UTC)
It was definitely 1980. I was there, and I still have his award. - St.John, son of Denny Wright.

I would rate it B. It is very informative about Denny Wright but needs some work on it. It contains a considerable amount of very interesting but unattributable information on Denny (some of it trivia). A non-member, who obviously knew Denny well, recently had several contributions edited out for unexplained reasons - presumably because much of it was unattributed and some of it trivia - a pity I think, but it would be helpful if the person concerned would collate that information and provide it as a published source elsewhere. The same person also edited out a correction to Denny's full name - Freeth-Wright. This is the name which Denny put on his will (than which there can surely be no more authentic source) and which also appears in the biography referenced.Motmit 19:27, 9 August 2007 (UTC) |
