Cometti Italian?
[edit]Is Dennis Italian? Cometti is an Italian name, any one have any proof of him being so? —Preceding unsigned comment added by DJPower94 (talk • contribs) 06:20, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
- He was featured on the Who do you think you are? TV show on SBS, and it showed him going back to his father's or grandfather's town in Italy. Not sure if that could be used for a WP:RS, but it's a start. 07:18, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
WAFL/VFL career
[edit]"... Maddington as captain-coach to four successive grand finals, winning premierships in 1974, 1975 and 1976."
Ummm... '73, '74, '75, '76 maybe? 4 into 3 don't go. 122.200.166.129 (talk) 10:52, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
But then: "In the mid-1970s the competition had some its best years. Channel Seven commentator Dennis Cometti coached Maddington to a hat-trick of premierships from 1974 to 1976 and took Kelmscott to the flag in 1979." from Never on a Sunday, February 13, 2009, By Les Everett at http://australianrules.com.au/news/187 122.200.166.129 (talk) 11:16, 10 April 2011 (UTC)
- I can't say I see the problem here, he would have coached them to a grand final loss in either 1977 or 1973. Grand Final does not equal Premiership. Jevansen (talk) 13:35, 16 April 2011 (UTC)

Re: Cometti-isms
[edit]I've done a big compilation of all the most well-known Cometti-isms. Now, the list is long, I'll admit, and I realise historically such a list was frowned up, but I also think it would be a travesty to not display any Cometti-isms. I'm wondering if—instead of deleting them all (or many of them)—perhaps have some kind of collapsable table or repository? I even had the idea to run a poll to help narrow it down to a top 30 or something. Happy to entertain ideas in a democratised fashion. If people are happy to leave as it is, that would also be okay, although I think a collapsable table may actually be the best way to go.
