maroon and gold day pics
[edit]big props to whoever posted them, as well as the detailed info. Funkydunkleman 04:54, 25 October 2006 (UTC)
Assistant principal
[edit]I updated the assistant principal situation. Sconiers now left the school.
There should be a correction made to the name of the Ass. Prince. As far as I know his name is 'Ed Marsman' and not 'Ed Minnema'
No Marsman filled in last year as assistant principal. He was retired. This year there was a new one, Minnema. Yeah, for some reason Denfeld likes principals named Ed. WildFan48 17:37, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
There probably shouldn't be any staff information listed unless you intend to update the page every time someone comes and goes. And it's "assistant." Spelling and grammar errors in an article about a school are especially embarrassing (or ought to be.) Unklscrufy (talk) 07:22, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- It seems that most pages about schools name the principal and any assistants. But the info in this article is horribly out of date. I'll go update it. WildFan48 07:26, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I added what I think is current principal information Unklscrufy (talk) 20:19, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Rediculous amounts of needless information deleted
[edit]There is NO reason whatsoever to have a normal, everyday high school article souped up with things such as pictures, obvious homecoming traditions every school has, and biased opinions. I cut them all out. Atrocious. 75.73.58.87 23:27, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
I agree and I'm a Denfeld alumnus. Maybe the homecoming traditions can just be mentioned without all the extra cheerleading. That whole section is poorly written anyway aside from being less than objective. And it's "ridiculous." If you're going to complain about someone else's writing, at least make sure your own is accurate first. Unklscrufy (talk) 07:26, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Why?
[edit]I don't know if you have a personal vendetta against this school or what, but I spent days adding that information to this site. Our Homecoming and school tradition is what sets Denfeld apart from the other schools in Duluth, MN, so yes, it really was required to have the extra information. If you believe it was a biased opinion, you should have edited the article instead of deleting the entire thing. So thank you, sir/madam. Thank you very much. Soleado10er 19:13, 6 May 2007 (UTC)
- Our traditions don't set Denfeld apart from any other school. Students at other schools feel just as strongly about their own traditions. Unklscrufy (talk) 20:23, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
I agree. This person is way out of line. The article was just a short stub without much information before the extra info and photos were added. Look at articles on other high schools--they tend to be longer and have pictures. Just because this article had photos doesn't mean it is biased. I have no idea why someone would do something so stupid as to delete all of that. I will gladly try to help put more info and pictures back into the article. I will watch out for 75.73.58.87. WildFan48 03:35, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
This whole article probably could use a rewrite and I'd be happy to help out. As an alumnus, I'd like to see Denfeld represented well wherever the school is talked about. I'll also add some photos sometime soon. Unklscrufy (talk) 07:30, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, this article is in pretty bad shape. Most of it's poorly written and a lot of the material is out-of-date and/or irrelevant, while there's a lot of other info that should be included. I've been wanting to do a lot of work on it for long time now, but I've been quite busy and I rarely find the time to edit on Wikipedia anymore. I had pretty much forgotton about this until you came in and made some edits. I made a few edits just to help properly organize and bring it up to date. But there's still a lot that can be written about DHS. And this article also needs references. If someone has a copy of the book Joe Vukelich wrote about Denfeld, we could create a great section about history and have a reference for it. And I'm sure we can find plenty of sources for general info and more recent events from local media websites.
- And Unklscrufy, I completely agree with you....Denfeld deserves a much better article than this. I know that probably most current students and alumni have stopped by here at least once just to check it out or maybe to learn something they didn't know about the school. It's a shame that the article has to look the way it does. WildFan48 08:44, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I added more historical information plus a couple of pictures I took today. It's a start anyway. Unklscrufy (talk) 20:23, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, it's starting to look a little better now. There's a lot that it still needs (organization, infobox, references), but it's a good start. WildFan48 21:40, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
Robert E Denfeld
[edit]Should this page maybe contain some information about Robert E Denfeld?
- I have some biographical information on Denfeld. I'd like to upload a picture, but the couple that I've seen don't have copyright info on them and I don't know if I can upload those or not. He had quite a career and probably should be mentioned a bit more. Unklscrufy (talk) 20:20, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- I'm not sure about that picture you uploaded....did you see a date on it anywhere? If it was published before 1923 it's automatically in the public domain. WildFan48 21:42, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Denfeld died in 1921, so I figured it was okay to upload it. Unklscrufy (talk) 22:01, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
- Okay, I had thought he lived longer than that. It should be fine then. WildFan48 05:39, 6 June 2010 (UTC)
Infobox
[edit]I added an infobox, which this article has desperately needed for a long time. I basically just modeled it after the one on the Duluth East High School article, so it may not be perfect. The numbers I used came from here: http://www.duluth.k12.mn.us/education/school/school.php?sectionid=130. I don't know if that site it too reliable, but the number of students and staff will be changing very soon anyway. WildFan48 22:10, 4 June 2010 (UTC)
