The family of the Viscounts Clanmalier upon the death of Maximilian O'Dempsey, 3rd Viscount Clanmalier in 1691, were scattered largely destitute and Terence O'Dempsey the younger son of Maximilian fled Ireland along with his cousin Sir John Byrne to Cheshire ( Sir John married Merial Leicester, the heiress of Tabley Hall near Northwich) where the core family flourished. The original velum Charles 1st Title still exists along with the Ulster King of Arms Pedigree produced in 1830.

A direct descendent of Terence O'Dempsey was the WW2 General Sir Miles Dempsey who commanded the British 2nd Army at D Day.

Some Dempseys were transported as slaves to barbados. One reveals this as a family memory in this documentary on redlegs (around 40m in) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kY4rDnb11bY — Preceding unsigned comment added by 2A00:23C7:BB2C:4F01:D543:9F26:20A2:2A98 (talk) 18:07, 30 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I have reverted this edit. I can find no mention of Sinéad Dempsey (born 1991), Animal Rescuer on the WWW. Is this person mentioned in other reliable secondary sources, or have I missed some? Andrewa (talk) 07:09, 22 March 2021 (UTC)[reply]
