Demographics calculations

The percentage numbers for the demographics don't make sense to me - if you add all the percentages up excluding white, it's 120% Why?????????? I think the following page's statistics adds up better and the statistics are from census.gov http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Demographics_of_New_York


Response: Adding the figures for White, Black, Asian, and Other/Mixed makes just 100%. Hispanic (or Latino) is not considered to be a race for census purposes, but an ethnicity. A Hispanic person can be of any race. The column for Non-Hispanic White is a subset of White and so you should not include it in the sum.
