  • Notability:
DWRC is the first and only group to organize an alternative to the non-democratic PGFTU. A group working to organize workers on this large a scale (50,000 workers) in a country in which the trade union movement has played a highly significant role (see First Intifada and scholarship by Joost Hiltermann), is indeed a significant one. I created this entry as I was editing the PGFTU entry to reflect the lack of democratic elections. LamaLoLeshLa (talk) 07:07, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
The two scholars who have written at some length about unions in Palestine, Joost Hiltermann and Nina Sovich, both refer to DWRC and interview DWRC labor activists in reputable academic publications. Both use the DWRC at some length as one of their main sources in discussing the lack of elections in the PGFTU. Not much is written about the Palestinian labor movement in the academic press - thus the fact that DWRC is mentioned within the context of existing writing is an indication of the organization's notability.LamaLoLeshLa (talk) 21:14, 4 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
