I reckon the text here is cut and pasted directly from an Estate Agent blurb! (Sarah777 03:14, 12 February 2007 (UTC))
- Are you suggesting it is a copyright violation, in which case we need to rewrite it otherwise it should be tagged with the appropriate tag and source if you know it. Please post it here if you don't know what to do with it and I'll look at it. Cheers ww2censor 03:53, 12 February 2007 (UTC)
- I'll re-write it. I am familiar with the village. I am assuming the text is copied from a property advertisement - the style is pretty unmistakable! (Sarah777 21:56, 12 February 2007 (UTC))
- I know it too but have not been there recently, so you do it. I presume you just think it is a copyvio but don't actually have a site it was copied from. ww2censor 02:21, 13 February 2007 (UTC)

Your assumption is correct! I have attempted to Wikify the article a bit. (Sarah777 23:46, 14 February 2007 (UTC))
To the anonymous editor who keeps inserting Jack McDonald could you please explain what he played, when etc. Some reference would be useful. I have never heard of him - so he can't be that famous! Regards (Sarah777 20:11, 3 April 2007 (UTC))
Rats
[edit]Siberian Hamster - no Wiki entry for that animal; I have never heard of it being naturalised in the Glen O'The Downs. But I have myself seen some fine specimens of the Brown rat (Rattus norvegicus) in the vicinity of the car-park. (Sarah777 20:46, 24 April 2007 (UTC))
- Someone was trying to be funny. See: Fawlty Towers episode guide - #12: Basil The Rat. Which is why I reverted it. Guliolopez 21:05, 24 April 2007 (UTC)

Siberian hamsters
[edit]the following is copied from my (Sarah777) talk page:
Hi are you obsessed with the presence of rats in the irish countryside? when I saw your contribution first I thought is was a joke - "non-native species of rat"? - so I removed it but you keep restoring it. Why? I went so far as to engage in the "joke" with my reference to "pedigree siberian hamsters" - remember Fawlty Towers? - but obviously you are serious. Rat fixation perhaps.... Ned [1]
Yes, Ned, deadly serious. Rats are no laughing matter, and Rattus norvegicus is naturalised in the Glen. It is important when listing the wild animals to include them all - after all, Wiki is an encyclopedia not a tourist guide. The Siberian hamster is obviously a different matter - being fictional it is not of concern but his cousin the Siberian Tiger (photographed bravely by my very self) is of great concern, and may well have been responsible for the disappearance of the tree-huggers from the forest some years back. I certainly like to think so.
However Ned, if you really feel we should keep news of these unpleasant mammals under wraps please delete the info on old norvegicus - I will not reinstate it! (Sarah777 10:50, 27 April 2007 (UTC))
- Ned French - I see you've finally cleared the glen of rats! (Sarah777 06:18, 15 June 2007 (UTC))
Hi we had a heritage week event in the village and a big investment was made in re-opening the various trails and the local landmarks. I have a .pdf document from the organisers and I would like to put it up on the Wiki page. Please advise on how. There are no copyright issues. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ned French (talk • contribs) 11:18, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
- If you want to you might be able to précis some of the important information and add that to the document but just adding all of a document may be inappropriate. Saying there is no copyright issues does not mean you have permission to use it as it stands and that it has been appropriately licensed for use on Wikipedia. You should review thecopyright page to get a better understanding of what may or may not be allowed and also how to cite sources used. ww2censor 17:45, 31 August 2007 (UTC)
The Tour de Delgany
[edit]Read in the paper the other day that some new "trail" was launched through Delgany...forget the details but it did mention the ancient Cross and Graveyard...got any info on that Ned? (Sarah777 22:53, 31 August 2007 (UTC))
Hi yes - the local heritage / tidy towns team did an excellent job opening the local walking trails with proper sign-posts etc. Re my comments above, can I upload the .pdf or will I just refer to the new amenity? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ned French (talk • contribs) 08:07, 4 September 2007 (UTC)
- If it's on a website just link to it. If not, I don't know...you'll need more expert advice. I'm weak outside my main field of knowledge which is, of course, the fauna of the Glen! (Sarah777 08:26, 4 September 2007 (UTC))
The town may be tidy but the heritage trails have all been built on. What a country. So glad I left. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Phoenixzappa (talk • contribs) 08:21, 5 November 2009 (UTC)
ATM?
[edit]I'm very, very familiar with the town of Delgany and its surroundings, but I've never seen an ATM in the village. Can anyone verify where it is? Maybe Sarah777? —Preceding unsigned comment added by NotoriousTF (talk • contribs) 14:46, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Certainly can't think of one. Sarah777 (talk) 20:18, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
- Turns out there is one inside the re-modeled newsagents! --NotoriousTF (talk) 19:47, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
