This is a really interesting and very influential early (predominently loyalist) American family of soldiers and politicians. I have added two names, but there are more. I think that it would be most appropriate if an american colleague contributed/supplemented articles.
There is a British connection, in that there was a general departure of the DeLanceys' to England after the American Revolution - Sir William Howe DeLancey who was born New York (1778 - 1815) was one of the first professional staff officers in the British Army, worked for Wellington throughout the Peninsular War and was his chief of staff at the Battle of Waterloo.

I would really to set out a DeLancey Family Tree in this article - are there styles/conventions within Wikipedia?

…5:11 P.M. E.S.T. I Have some knowledge about DeLancey through researchings, some involve the Lady's there are also some individuals about the 1800's that are still in a millitary possition and also there is some Mind operations with the name Delancey in Pennsylvania also consisting of a Hospital.
There is also the Religious sector in which a college was established, this is Upper State New York.
I am also doing some research with DeLano whom appears in Massachusetts in the early 1600's doing dealings with the Indians.
There also is some DeLaney which may be affiliated with the concerns of the Revolution this would be Government references such as a committee or something my research continues with that name which appeared twice first of name differently.
There is also DeLancey in various spelling Just in Provincetown Cape Cod a Lancey or Lancy Harbor was there before Province Harbor Perhaps this was a same Location for this Habitat were Fishermen and Ship Builders.
My studies continue with Stephen Delancey and the King Of England whom denized him as an English 'Subject Perhaps when eitten his french name fled to Holland for review of some sort then Transported self to England.
About this time is when the King of England Formed the To Know representation of New England, which then possibly led Mr. DeLancey in 1686 to the Assembly seat of New York previous New Amsterdam or Amsterdam in which a Member was residing and affiliated with the county perhaps formerly of Dutch and then still the Continuance of some Rural. It is said that this representative of the Island neglected Mr.DeLancey's seat, nor the stay. For it just says seat because he was not born there, some how he over came this violation and or recommendation of Authority.
It is also possible that William Kid vesseled one of Stephen Delancey's Ship's for many reason's.
One is the King of England granted Captain Kid piracy and was to firstly go to New York of fitting in which he did several times even perhaps directly with other Merchants such as Mr. DeLancey's venture would then be in conduct.
William Kid alias Captain of the Pirate Sea did stay at some of the Largest Homes in New York. History state's he owned a large whit mansion and shows old Pictured settings obviously from Paintings, his course was at the walls street residences where the coffee house and trading was conducted. Pearl street would very well be a possible stay, for Mr. Delancey had a Large Georgia Style Mansion there.
The Aster Family and Kane Family were well connected with DeLancey, both families being well of fortune as of one of the richest at a period of time.
There may be some representation with West Point and DeLancey my research continues a lot of Art Economics History will be of Purchase through letters documents and correspondences and then there's the connections that are visible to the course though hard to define as they would be perhaps left in limbo such as Captain Kid.
My next posting here will be of a direct and perhaps short simple connection of just names dates places and maybe a short representation of reason, if possible. This would be the concerns of New papers such as Social Communications through Family from north to south, affiliations of Committees of Correspondences, and the certain naming of areas perhaps after the revolution and the civil war which are limited.
Thank You My family burial plot is Manomet Mass. which is a great place for it is small though has a lot of Holmes, Proctor and other names perferably from Nova scotia via the Revolution and it's departing members. Allthough American English patronage were assembling in nova Scotia prior to the American Revolution , it will show much Art Economics History there as for the continuance of a Leadership perhaps of English status. The DeLancey of The Plymouth area which in the 1800's was the surroundings as well were Home Builders so I'm told perhaps even as far as the cape are some styles of that periods decor.

...Could William Howe DeLancey KCB (1778 to 26 June 1815 be added here and also William DeLancey a Governor of New York 1700's. John DeLancey a Signer of the Declaration of Dependence which was an effort of just naming representatives towards a committee i believe something to do with the Sons of Liberty not sure of the year there may have been fifty one to it.
And may we have Peter DeLancey through time whom had Twelve Children it would be of great inventory of these members of the DeLancey Family Peter is one of three boys to Eitten DeLancey. Peter whom had a grist and or flour mill in the area of the Bronx perhaps part of the DeLancey farm North section and consisting of Docks was hardly a part of the Revolutionary War. Allthough he did hold an Assembly seat perhaps an alterman.

There may be connection within the 1100's of De Lacy and De Quincy Marriage in which created Lancaster and may of brought the DeLancey name to a more relevent sequence. What I mean is the DeLancey name may have allready exsisted before this time, it is said that delacy and delancey are the same. Kings and kingship authority did not use last and or surnames. allthough names did exsist. The only representation I found was a Female portraite about 1000 A.D. and was named DeLancey this was not the artist though the figure in the Painting.
DeLancey may have simularity of older names such as Delhi, there is ancy in France and other sequences I have found. Will gather more information of the name, and hope to add some productive qualities.David George DeLancey (talk) 19:24, 10 October 2009 (UTC)
