Er, why have you spelt defense wrong?
[edit]Not sure what has gone on here, but this is pretty piss poor for an encyclopAEdia (yes you've also spelt this incorrectly.)
Don't give me any bullcrap about american/british differences. English is called English because it is the language of England; our spellings are correct!
Oh shut up.
- Blimey, I unanimously agree with you, mate :-)
- However, the policy thinks otherwise (Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#National_varieties_of_English), and we must respect it here... --Alexander Ivashkin 20:36, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
- It's not really spelt wrong, just there are two ways. defense(US Spelling) or defence(International Spelling). If the article makes it clear then there is some understanding on why such articles appear spelt 'wrong' to many. ChessCreator (talk) 11:14, 19 February 2008 (UTC)
- I should point out that as defence is the worldwide spelling of the word then that should be used, since the entire world uses said spelling. Defense refers solely to the US, and is therefore unrepresentitive of the rest of the world. --J.StuartClarke (talk) 15:44, 3 March 2008 (UTC)
- There is an International/worldwide spelling? Who says? --64.149.41.29 (talk) 21:06, 21 June 2008 (UTC)

Nonsense. US English spelling is used in the Philippines, for example. We are following Wikipedia's guidelines on English spelling. Please find the appropriate chat group to discuss this further. —Michael Z. 2008-06-21 21:27 z
England didn't invent that many English words, British English is only another variation of countless "incorrect" pronunciations of countless other languages, it hardly holds a copyright on its mispronunciations and misspellings of other languages. 75.164.122.245 (talk) 23:44, 22 July 2010 (UTC)
Stub?
[edit]Does this really merit Stub Status?
- I'd say so. It doesn't even mention a lot of important aspects of defence warfare including particular defensive tactics, fortifications and equipment, considerations at the operational and strategic level, Cold-War "strategic defence", counterattacking, and the defence throughout history.
- By the way, there is a major gap in that we have no article about the military attack. —Michael Z. 2007-07-29 20:43 Z
If the title is "Defense"...
[edit]Why is it referred to as "defence"? I say we should change it to American spellings, as is the title. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 24.116.250.51 (talk) 02:03, 16 March 2010 (UTC)
