Pop Metal (2)

It is essential that vandalism ending the session with reference to the musical genre which is part of Def Leppard. The band itself has stated that does not and has never been part of the notorious glam metal, until you understand a little what you mean, you know that is not the same sound of Poison, Motley Crue and Def Leppard. There is an article with valid source explaining the same subject. But this insistence on accumulating journalistic sources of extreme bad taste to justify that there is something negative, is the main article does lose much of its credibility.

genres: - 70's: Heavy Metal, Hard Rock - 80's: Hard Rock, Arena Rock (AOR) - 90's - Present: Rock (only): Set the last decade so this would serve to justify the experience of sound that the band performed. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 186.211.99.74 (talk) 19:47, 26 January 2012 (UTC)

Please read WP:OR. If it is backed by sources then it goes up there. The genres you've labeled are Original Research (i.e. just your opinion.) Wikipedia must be based upon reliable sources. Also Arena Rock isn't really a music genre anyway. The fact the band doesn't like being associated with glam metal doesn't mean anything as, once again Wikipedia is based upon reliable sources. Also glam metal is not negative, it's just referring to pop influenced metal containing catchy pop hooks from glam rock as well having multiple harmony chorus' and shred guitar solos etc. --Jamcad01 (talk) 00:29, 27 January 2012 (UTC)

Timeline

The timeline showed a studio album in 1979. Since their first studio release was in 1980 (and was already listed) I took the 1979 line out. If I've made a mistake, please revert and let me know. Thanks. Natt the Hatt (talk) 15:43, 16 June 2012 (UTC)

Infobox and intro

This is probably the fourth time a discussion like this has been opened, but regardless, we need to clarify a few things. First of all, the band needs to be properly defined in the lead sentence. Going through out the article's history, I've noticed that Def Leppard has been described as rock/hard rock and occasionally as heavy metal. Second thing, we need to decide what to list in the genre parameter. In my personal opinion, it looks "lurid" to have four references at every genre when it needs only one to support such a claim. A fresh consensus is badly needed for these issues because there is sporadic edit waring between unregistered editors from time to time. And please stick to verifiable sources when discussing these things, unlike the previous discussions. Sabrebd, what's your opinion on this?--Вик Ретлхед (talk) 20:57, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

Vik, only "Rock" should be listed in the infobox; the infobox is meant to be a succinct as possible. Different musical styles can be fleshed out in the article body. Radiopathy •talk• 22:16, 15 April 2014 (UTC)
Radiopathy is right, the guidelines call for generality, so rock music is probably the most obvious term.--SabreBD (talk) 22:31, 15 April 2014 (UTC)

Frank Noon - Member Vs Session Member

Is there any reference to Frank Noon actually being a part of Def Leppard? I have never read that in any interviews. Or was it the case that he was only hired as a session musician to play drums for The Def Leppard EP ?DLManiac (talk) 10:03, 8 December 2014 (UTC)

I answered my own question with information from http://www.deflepparduk.com/2013newsnov159.html Frank was not a member of Def Leppard. Just a session musician. I'm sure editors will be fighting this, so here is record. DLManiac (talk) 05:34, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Yeah! in discography section.

Someone has added YEAH! Into the discography section on the home page. Personally I don't see a problem with this as it IS a studio album. Not necessarily a studio album of original material but it is not a compilation nor live album. I'd like to hear some thoughts in this before it is reverted. Thanks DLManiac (talk) 07:45, 20 December 2014 (UTC)

Band Members Section

The band members section IS accurate and has remained in a quite steady state for sometime. There have been at least two edits by an IP removing most of the section, claiming inaccuracy, but they had no sources, when we have several to the contrary. Just keeping record here in case of an edit war — DLManiac (talk) 05:59, 3 February 2015 (UTC)

Redundant sections

Looking at both the timeline and the lineups sections, appear to have the same information, making one of them redundant, I think the timeline section should be removed as the lineups are easier to navigate. Thoughts ? Mlpearc (open channel) 05:04, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

I would say that the timeline is a better visual representation than the table. I would like to see them both stay, but the table is probably not necessary. –DLManiac (talk) 05:09, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
My reasoning: The timeline shows specific contributions to albums more easily. Another reason to keep the lineups is more detailed information about specific instruments – DLManiac (talk) 05:10, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
To me your statement confirms that the timeline is less useful, and I think the table looks much better. Mlpearc (open channel) 05:38, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
Precisely why I think we should keep both. Unfortunately, no one ever chimes in on this talk page, so we probably won't get much more input. – DLManiac (talk) 06:37, 12 November 2015 (UTC)

Touring

The 2011 summer tour had cancellations, Heart and Def Lappard were supposed to play Rockfest in Cadott, WI on July 17th. They both cancelled due to the passing of Joe Elliot's father. At the last minute Rockfest was able to secure Ted Nugent and Stone Temple Pilots as replacements. To verify you can contact <ref/www.rock-fest.com/ref> or view any programs or t-shirts from the event, you will see Heart and Def Leppard. comment added by Waycool86
