Movie tie-in
[edit]I'm not sure the movie tie-in is correct. It is strange to say that the song title is 'borrowed' from a movie that would not be released until nine months after the song. (According to IMDB the movie was released in September of 1942 -- the song in December of 1941.) Perhaps, the tie-in is with the Gene Autry movie, "Heart of the Rio Grande". I couldn't believe the size of the ears in both and IMDB lists the song as appearing in THIS movie and not in the Johnny Mack Brown film. According to IMDB, "Deep In the Heart of Texas" was the working title of the Autry film, too. Cdixon 18:25, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- Actually, the text reads borrowed for a movie. This changes the meaning completely. — Scm83x talk 18:50, 27 February 2006 (UTC)
- Um, yes. I think I missed that the first time around. Cdixon 19:17, 27 February 2006 (UTC)

Citation question
[edit]What (and how) exactly is one to cite for parts of the article marked as needing citations? For example, I know for a fact, having seen it with my eyes and heard it with my ears, that both the University of Texas and TCU marching bands play versions of the song during their respective pregame performances (as a member of the TCU band, I participated in this for four years). How does one cite that? You can go to any TCU game or any Texas game and see for yourself. I'm quite confused as to what should be cited there. They are facts, and I'd like to have a serious talk with anyone with any eyewitness account disputing that the song is played at those sporting events. I cannot say anything about the other sporting events mentioned in the article, but I'd bet good money there are many who can say the same thing about them. - I do think that there is an issue of figuring out how to cite the "other usage" section; however, Wikipedia is strict about needing an actual citation, not just an eye witness claim. ForestGreenSharpie (talk) 20:02, 2 June 2024 (UTC)
