Dee Dowis died as a drunk driver - Article sanitization alert

[edit]

Review of the change history shows that there has been a persistent effort, since 2016, to remove key info surrounding the facts of his death. Removing irrelevant and extraneous info is a productive service working toward improving article quality. Likewise for removing inaccurate or otherwise faulty info. However, deleting critical facts because certain people or certain organizations find them to be too unpleasant or too embarrassing constitutes sanitization. A cover-up.

That is the antithesis of what Wikipedia is for.

Whoever has been doing this, here is an alternate way you can look at the situation: His death and the way he died can serve to educate people to help them to make smarter decisions about things like wearing seatbelts and use of alcohol. Take Princess Diana. We will never know how many lives she saved in her death because people decided from that event that they would always wear their seatbelt. But we can be certain that if that key fact had been hidden from the public, then the total saved today would be zero.

To delete key facts is to rob people of info they use to enrich their lives. And people come to Wikipedia because, overall, it is such an excellently curated destination for solid, complete information. --Tdadamemd19 (talk) 14:02, 29 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]
