Undes Seamen in USN -- is a citation really needed?
[edit]"Undesignated seamen, or those who have not selected a rating (e.g. job or vocation), are normally the most junior sailors onboard and are usually sent to the Deck Department for their first assignment.[citation needed]"
I'm just curious what would count as a citation here -- the length of Basic Seamanship school in Great Lakes (it's like a week long)? Because there's really nothing to 'prove' it other than that any sailor from WWII (I've discussed this subject, among others, with my grandfather, it was just as cliche back then as it is now) onward would be able to tell you that the lowest guys on the totem pole are kids fresh from RTC in Deck who were sold on promises of "try any rate you want!"205.56.181.196 (talk) 16:09, 7 January 2015 (UTC)
