Name?

This article should be renamed to Deborah Rodriguez. That is the form of her name that is used on her book.

Yes, it should be renamed. And then deleted.

When I apply for a visa to visit a foreign country, or for a home loan, can I list my occupation as "humanitarian"? Or how about billing myself as one "who creates safe spaces"? Then why can this garbage stand on Wikipedia? The person who wrote that should list their occupation as "not a writer", as they haven't figured out how commas are used. Criticism of Rodriguez should be here

Her bio currently says she "creates safe spaces that provide women with a way out of domestic violence and chaotic circumstances."

Says who?! Where is the widespread criticism of her regarding her beauty school in Kabul, where women were put into a dangerous situation when she wrote about them and then fled the country? From article on NPR in June 2007: "back in Afghanistan, the subjects of her book say Rodriguez and her newfound fame have put their lives in danger. They say they've seen none of the money or help to get them out of Afghanistan that Rodriguez promised them in exchange for having their stories appear in the book." There is also article in The Telegraph from July 2, 2007. Even before her book, her accounts of what she did and accomplished were challenged, such as this New York Times story from April 29, 2007. This Wikipedia article, as it currently stsands, is a PR piece. Earlier versions of her page had the more complete and more neutral story about her time in Afghanistan.

This article should be more like the Wikipedia article of Greg Mortenson

Debbie Rodriguez → Deborah Rodriguez – This is the name by which she is known, in the publication info for all her books, in articles such as this in NYT, and on her own website, although the web address uses "Debbie". There is an athlete Déborah Rodríguez, but the accents are enough to distinguish them. (If people disagree, I'd suggest the athlete should be at "... (athlete)" and the writer be the Primary Topic - page views of 6/day and 27/day respectively.) A move was suggested informally above, 8 years ago, but not implemented. @In ictu oculi: But what would you then do with the base name Deborah Rodriguez? I reckon the writer is the primary topic, so should be at the base name, with a hatnote pointing to the athlete. We could rename the athlete to Deborah Rodriguez (athlete), but is there any point in that, as her common name is the accented form? Would you create a dab page at the base name so that zero readers got directly to their required topic? I'd have thought that the writer as Primary topic, with a hatnote to the athlete with the accents, is the best solution: readers wanting the writer get there directly, readers wanting the athlete have one extra click, whether from a hatnote or a dab page. Neither of these are great view-magnets 20 views vs 10 daily. It would be most helpful to readers to title both articles clearly. And add a third name on the dab for Karate at the 2010 Central American and Caribbean Games In ictu oculi (talk) 16:51, 21 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

@In ictu oculi: OK, I still think the writer is probably the Primary Topic but that I think it's more important to get her article titled with her Common Name, even if it has to have a disambiguation. So I'd support moving the dab page to Deborah Rodriguez. PamD 13:52, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Consensus reached: @In ictu oculi: only two of us have participated in this discussion since the move was first proposed and then relisted, and I think we agree. So will a move closer please enact as follows:

Move the dab page Deborah Rodriguez (disambiguation) to Deborah Rodriguez
Move Debbie Rodriguez to Deborah Rodriguez (writer)

I think there should probably be a separate WP:RM to move the athlete, as she wasn't mentioned in this move discussion and nothing has been said on her talk page. I've just tidied up the handful of incoming links to Deborah Rodriguez which were intended for Déborah Rodríguez. PamD 17:37, 5 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]
