@Refsworldlee: are we sure that the editor who added the source could access the cite or were they just going by the headline? If the headline is all that's necessary fair enough, but being completely unable to access the source isn't particularly ideal. Rusted AutoParts17:05, 19 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
I've got my fingers burnt on this before. Many moons ago I would insist that every single person should be able to verify for themselves that a source is correct or that a fact is a fact and not a bluff. I got shouted down and told that the community of editors who do have access to paywalled articles are there to verify it for those of us who don't (I don't pay money for any news I access, apart from the cost of a physical daily newspaper each day). You could try asking the editor who recently created the person article for Roger Phillips. At the very least it needed inline tagging as paywalled. Thanks. I replied to the above from my work computer, which hit the paywall when I tried to access HortWeek. However, my home computer appears to have free articles due from the website, and I am able to see the whole article and verify for myself that he has died (but not the date of death).
