6:00 PST : Castro Dead. 6:05: Castro not dead

[edit]

Wow! Wikipedia has the power to bring back the dead! All it took was a reload of the page!

How Reliable is this? There's not even a source at the moment

not sure what you are questioning. Obviously, Castro ain't dead. The point is that it was stated on wiki and then, a few minutes later it was gone. Check the page history.
It was posted by a vandal and now it's been deleted. Big deal, it happens all the time. I don't even know why this "discussion" was started. And let me be the first to sign this thread. WWGB 06:51, 12 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Which name?

[edit]

Some editors keep reverting the death notice for wrestler John Kronus to his real name George Caiazo. Now Caiazo is redirected to Kronos, so the reader ends up there anyway. My point is that the primary Wikipedia article is listed under Kronos, so for consistency I believe that the death notice should use this name also, not just in this case but all cases where the deceased has real and "stage" names. We followed this convention with Bruce Bennett/Herman Brix in his death notice here. Opinions? WWGB 13:30, 21 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Animals

[edit]

We've had this debate before with Best Mate but let me make it clear that if an animal is notable enough for an article then it warrants inclusion, so we keep Shambo, SqueakBox 03:20, 28 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Helicopter Crash

[edit]

I edited the entry made by someone else of the 4 men killed in the Phoenix helicopter crash... but I question their notability. I'll leave it up to someone else to delete if appropriate. Tom M. 16:30, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

  • what Tom said. personally i'd question the notability but i'd rather see what some others think then take direct action right now straight away. tomasz. 16:41, 31 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • What is notable about these people other than they died under tragic and unusual circumstances? Deaths are being listed here without having a main Wikipedia article, which means they bypass the usual consideration of notability and possible subsequent deletion. Most of the Virginia Tech victims do not have a WP article, nor are they listed here. What makes the crash victims more notable? WWGB 03:14, 1 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I agree with you WWGB that they are not notable... but I think that with these 4, and many others we have dealt with, the "emotional current-ness of the moment" is what gets them listed in the first place. I suggest that if we let them stay and then the following month delete all the red links (as you have been doing) gets us past any emotional issues that may exist with the original poster. Independent says 14th but no mention of cause, Sussex Uni says 13th and says cancer.
