Archie Battersbee

The cause of his death wasn't the removal of life support. The cause of his death were the traumatic brain injuries on 7 April. The life support simply ensured his heart kept beating and he was ventilated but the judgments make it clear he had no brain function and his brain was suffering necrosis from May. It could equally be said from the format of the entry that “removal of life support” was an explanation of his notability, with his COD not mentioned. Is there a RS for his official COD? WWGB (talk) 19:06, 7 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

You could probably choose one of many online sources which basically state that his underlying critical condition, and therefore possibly his cause of death, was simply "brain damage" - the following decent source gives a good account of events, which I personally think leans towards this very uncomplicated outcome: [1]. Lamont Dozier

It looks very odd that, in the list, the only song he is credited with is "Trying to Hold on to My Woman", which was his biggest solo hit. However, his notability rests on his work as one-third of Holland-Dozier-Holland, and as such he composed or co-composed many much better-known songs ("Baby Love", "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)", "Reach Out I'll Be There", "You Keep Me Hangin' On", "Bernadette", "Band of Gold"... etc. etc.). I'm sure that someone on this page has determined that what is currently shown follows the "rules" - but in that case the "rules" need to be reconsidered as the outcome looks somewhat absurd. There aren't any "rules" as such, just varying editors' interpretations of some kind of logic I think. I agree with both of you about Lamont Dozier's most significant majority work needing to be featured in the rule of three credits. Ref ^(chew)(do) 14:12, 9 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

I do agree with this. I think the logic for adding Holland-Dozier-Holland in the generic was to both link that article and, perhaps, because it's tough to single out only a few HDH hits because they wrote so many of them and it's just easier to link it as a catch-all. However, I think I found a way to make it work: I changed the blurb to list two HDH Billboard Hot 100 number ones for his songwriting credits (one a piece for The Supremes and the Four Tops), moved Holland–Dozier–Holland to the record producer credits (as they were also prolific producers too and it keeps that article linked) and removed the "Trying to Hold on to My Woman" credit entirely because, arguably, his work as a singer is the least known and notable aspect of his career. Anne Heche DOD

There is a brouhaha brewing over the date of death of Anne Heche. Our list has it on August 14, whereas her article is arguing that her brain death on August 12 constitutes legal death in California. WWGB (talk) 07:10, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It does appear legally sound. Uniform Determination of Death Act Section 7180. (a) An individual who has sustained either (1) irreversible cessation of circulatory and respiratory functions, or (2) irreversible cessation of all functions of the entire brain, including the brain stem, is dead. So unless they wind up stating the DOD as the 14th on her death certificate, than the 12th is legally speaking her DOD. At this point a lot of the back and forth on her talk page is disagreement over what individual editors consider death as entailing. Rusted AutoParts 08:43, 15 August 2022 (UTC)[reply]

In addition, our entry's inline CNN source also intimates that her family announced her death as the 14th. Her own article is currently edit protected until the 19th due to the "brouhaha", so I can't see the DoD there changing to the 14th anytime soon - if indeed it should be the 14th.
