Notability
[edit]Some people may wonder how or why a gang stabbing is notable for a standalone article. Here's why, based upon WP:EVENT
- Breadth of coverage: Beginning from 2006 until 2009 (plus the 2014 inclusion of this in the list of famous crimes in Houston). While much of the coverage is from the Houston Chronicle and/or Associated Press reports (as well as the Houston Press and some local papers) there is also a May 2008 Texas Monthly article on the case by Skip Hollandsworth.
- Depth of coverage: The 2008 Texas Monthly article discusses the incident in depth. There are multiple Houston Chronicle articles too. Univision had the article about the initial stabbing and I'm looking for more info.
- Lasting effect: The novel The Knife and the Butterfly (itself notable for an article because of the various book reviews, allowing it to meet WP:GNG) is based upon the Granillo stabbing
- The 14th appeals court of Texas also published an explanation for why it ended the gag order on Benton's lawyers, described by the Houston Press as an in-depth exploration of state and federal case law regarding gag orders and freedom of speech - I imagine this forms legal precedence in regards to gag orders in Texas state law

...says...
- "A bloodstain marks the sidewalk in Houston's Ervan Chew Park, the result of a brutal gang beating and stabbing that left a fourteen'year'old dead. Taken from: National Youth Gang Center, 2006,[...]"
Did the National Youth Gang Center publish anything about this incident? WhisperToMe (talk) 12:03, 12 November 2015 (UTC)
