POV
[edit]Am I the only one that find this horribly POV? Phrases such as "It is widely believed that this is due to institutional racism in such so-called democratic regimes." are not cited, and is a fine example of a cloaked weasel phrase. --Chris (talk) 03:52, 19 May 2006 (UTC)
- I agree, this is totally POV. I believe it doesn't even have a real encyclopedic value, the way it is written by now... Bryan 11:02, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- I totally agree. Someone more senior than me should probably put this up for a request for deletion - it reads like propaganda. --IronSwallow 22:01, 26 May 2006 (UTC)
- I agree as well. Propoganda. Not enough information to even call it worth being in an encyclopedia. If someone cares to slosh around and find so more rock solid evidence, then I'd be for it. ---Idiot with a gun 04:00, 27 May 2006 (UTC)
- I have edited the introduction to cover these problems. Paki.tv 13:13, 30 May 2006 (UTC)
I'll add my veto to this meaningless fragmentary anecdotal list of unsubstantiated reports. "Death in custody" has a universal definition and this list is not, in any way, congruent with that definition. Remove the whole thing. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.88.4.187 (talk) 14:16, 8 September 2010 (UTC)
United States subheading
[edit]Hello everyone, I am currently working on a college assignment to try and better this article for our class. I have a sandbox for this purpose and would like to invite anyone to comment on it or leave critique. I was considering trying to better define the topic as well as find relevant information regarding the topic. I have bolded all of the changes/ avenues I am trying to investigate and was wondering if anyone had ideas as to how about doing so, or what sources may be relevant. I read the POV subsection in this talk page and was wondering if maybe defining the term on a per country basis may be a worth while endeavor? If I did so what should be included in the definition? How the state defines it, how the media defines it, international treaties or terms, etc? Any help and critiques would be greatly appreciated as I would like to make pertinent and substantial changes to this article to help those interested in this topic. I want to warn everyone I will be removing the reference to Humans Rights First in this subheading as I went to their own cite and could not find the statistic that was given. If someone could find it then it would be great to have a clear citation and then it could be easily added back into the edits I will be uploading shortly under the heading "Watchdog organizations." - I deleted two executions at the end of the list of deaths in custody in the US; this article is about accidental or other unintended deaths in custody, not formal executions conducted after trial and sentencing.Parkwells (talk) 17:49, 19 October 2018 (UTC)
