Inaccuracies (undated; pre-May 2016)
[edit]This page has MANY inaccuracies and needs to be corrected. For example, it had included Dr. Andrew Foster as having established schools for the deaf in Kenya. No, he did not, neither did he establish any churches for the deaf in Kenya too. Dr. Foster's work was mostly in West Africa. He had absolutely no influence on deaf education in Kenya. He only visited Kenya once, and died a few weeks as he prepared to return to Kenya.
Also, this article stated that the first schools were established by those educated in America such as Dr. Foster and Prof Michael Ndurumo. No. Again it is important to understand that Foster did NOT establish any schools or churches for the deaf in Kenya. Secondly, Prof Ndurumo did not establish any schools, but has had immense input and influence on deaf education. He returned to Kenya in 1982 when almost all the current schools for the deaf had already been established, and influenced the use of sign language as a method of instruction.
