DeWitt Post Office → DeWitt Post Office (DeWitt, Arkansas) – Doncram says that this should be disambiguated because there are other offices with this name. However, none of those currently have articles on Wikipedia. This move needs to be discussed, as it is likely to be controversial. GeoffreyT2000 (talk) 15:55, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
- Well, GeoffreyT2000 just themself made a controversial move in order to put this at DeWitt Post Office, knowing that it would be controversial from previous discussion. It is not proper to make a controversial move, then open a requested move to undo that, as if trying to set the default to be their preferred alternative. In fact, IMO this should be moved back, then open a new requested move if you wish.
- About the merits of the article name, there are significantly more notable DeWitt Post Offices, including in DeWitt, New York (and perhaps the ones in DeWitt, Iowa, DeWitt, Virginia, DeWitt, Michigan, DeWitt, West Virginia, DeWitt, Lassen County, California) than the podunk and obscure yet NRHP-listed one in DeWitt, Arkansas. "DeWitt Post Office" could possibly be used as a place name for one or more of those settlements, as a whole. The Dewitt in California, a former settlement that had a post office from 1903 to 1927 apparently, is specifically named after Walter B. Dewitt, its postmaster.
- It is perfectly fine for the NRHP one to be covered at DeWitt Post Office (DeWitt, Arkansas), providing clarity and avoiding surprise for any readers searching for the New York or other ones. The DeWitt Post Office can exist indefinitely as a redirect marked {{Redirect with possibilities}}, as it was, unless or until someone creates articles for the other post offices of that name or establishes that the term refers to their settlements, and then it can be converted to a disambiguation page. --Doncram (talk) 17:15, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose as unnecessary overprecision per WP:PRECISE. The second "DeWitt" would be especially redundant. The article was titled DeWitt Post Office from its creation in Oct 2014 until Sept 2017. There are no other articles currently on WP about any other DeWitt post office, which in any case would normally be titled "United States Post Office (DeWitt, State)". If one or two such articles are ever written, a hatnote can easily be added to this one. Station1 (talk) 22:57, 16 December 2017 (UTC)
- Oppose We have an article on the DeWitt, Arkansas post office not because it's in a large city, but because it's a historic building with architectural significance and Depression-era murals. There's no evidence presented that any of those other post offices are notable, and from a quick image search, many of them have modern buildings without obvious historical or architectural significance. Until we have either an article on one of the other post offices or at least evidence that one of them is notable enough to have an article, disambiguating this article would be premature. - Oppose per TheCatalyst31 and WP:WTAF. -- Tavix (talk) 17:27, 17 December 2017 (UTC)
