Fair use rationale for Image:Staff of 1974.jpg

[edit]

Image:Staff of 1974.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

Assessment

[edit]

I am assessing this article for WikiProject Schools following a request, I apologise for the delay in a response. I see this article has already had a peer review and has been given B-class for another project, I agree with this rating and I am giving it B-class for WikiProject Schools as well. This is an impressive article, and credit must be given to its authors, and this can certainly be GA or even FA with some further work. The article is well referenced with one or two gaps e.g. principles, but it is good to see use of templates in refs. The history section is a little long - I would consider splitting this into sub-sections. The lead should also probably be a bit longer, it should summarise the entire article. Some parts of the article are a little bit promotional, for example Davidson High School has a long and colourful history in the performing arts, dating back to the school's establishment sounds a bit peacock like to me, I would re-phrase this. Also, more pictures, as requested would be great. The article's importance rating also needs to be reviewed, the well sourced alumni section certainly shows Mid-importance, though more would be needed for High-importance. Please add actor Karlene Rogerson to your alumni. Karlene was one of the lead actors in "FJ Holden" (Cheryl). She also appeared in "The Chant of Jimmy Blacksmith", "Abba the Movie", "Chopper Squad", "The Young Doctors" (Doreen). Illawarrian (talk) 06:03, 10 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Not done for now: If Rogerson meets Wikipedia's notability guidelines, she should have her own article before being listed in this one. Once she has an article, her name can be added here if you provide a reliable source for her having attended Davidson. Rivertorch (talk) 04:26, 14 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Please add my brother, Michael Wigney, to the list of alumni. He was appointed to the Federal Court of Australia in September 2013 (http://www.fedcourt.gov.au/about/judges/current-judges-appointment). He attended the school from 1976-1981. Thank you. Add the following under Senior staff Mark Anderson was principal from 1997 to 2002. Under his leadership, enrolments in the school increased significantly from 480 to over 600. He doubled the enrolment into Year 7 through community links and effectively publicising the achievements of students. Mr Anderson's success in promoting the school was featured in a report on 60 Minutes on public v private education. His message to both staff and students always centred on teamwork, personal best and 'never be embarrassed to succeed'. The school gained a Director General's award for achievement and HSC results placed students in top bands. Mr Anderson was appointed to establish Sydney Secondary College in 2002 and became the first College Principal. He was later selected as Director of Education in Western Sydney, Assistant Director Staffing and is currently the Director People and Careers in the NSW Department of Education. Mr Anderson is a prolific author of Australian history and literacy development textbooks, a number which have received Australian Excellence in Publishing awards. National Handball Association

[edit]

Born out of the ashes of year 11 2014, the National Handball Association (NHA) began by the founding fathers of the game. Handball, as it is more commonly known, has been played over the years at Davidson High School, but not like what was witnessed throughout 2014 and 2015. Every recess and lunch, year 12 boys would flock to the main quadrangle and line up for their chance of fame in the superbly well crafted six, elite handball courts just outside the school Library. After spending minutes trying to find a suitable handball to play with, the lads would begin their quest to survive the onslaught of "slog" shots that would ensue. Rules of the came were often heavily debated by many, resulting in heated arguments over whether or not the ball had touched the "line." Should you get out, the gruesome long walk to the end of the line was one that no player ever wanted to undergo. Whilst at the back of the line, the usual talk of "Oh mate, I'm behind you, just going to the canteen," occurred daily, as the players needed to maintain their strict diets to ensure maximum performance. As the time passed on, and the end of term 3 approached, the year 12 boys put on a show with their "Royal Rumble," adopting a knock-out style of game-play to ensure the true champion came out on top. The crowd gathered, and once again the rules were heavily debated, however one person did come out as the champion of the NHA. The NHA is not just a game of handball every recess and lunch, but a lifestyle, and something that will leave a lasting legacy at Davidson High School for years to come.
