[edit]Untitled
[edit]I changed "Goth-Metal" to "Industrial Metal", as their sound has more to do with Industrial music than Gothic Rock or the so called "Goth" Metal.
Satanist?
[edit]I've never heard anything outside of wikipedia to suggest David Vincent is a satanist. If so, one might have to specify whether it is Theistic Satanism or Philosophical Satanism, as the two are very different. Cronos12390 13:55, 31 March 2007 (UTC) he is known to wear a thorrs hammer and is said to have been a non-theistic odinist as opposed to a satanist and a like for viking philosophy of living i.e. libertarianism and not Leveyan or theistic satanism.
nazism?
[edit]edit: I took out the shit about him having nazi sympathies. some random rock page, and two message boards (Motorhead, and Stormfront (a biased source if there ever was one)), are not legitimate references for an encyclopedic article.
the actual statements at a Earache record meeting in 1992-93 made in reference to Nazism is do to the fetish wear of his wife that includes leather and replica SS uniforms and he was stated a dislike for political Nazism in general and a dislike for worship of the past and thought of neo-Nazis being the worst of this type of people that live in the past. His statements were very public and is typically not vocal about anything as extreme and he is not known for espousing anything beyond being a musician and is known to be apolitical in opinions and being more libertarian in personal ideas then anything. the fact of his lifestyle and music can attest to his open minded attitudes in general. he may dislike criminals among the illegal immigrant population plus and the his dislike of anti-immigrant sentiment (understanding that he was in bands with Hispanic Americans and Asian Americans and being friends with children of immigrants), if one reads into the lyrics to the song "where the slime live" on the Covenant album. the lyrics speak of this ideology and possible attitude about it and being repulsed it. As most song lyrics can take many angles and can be seen in many ways. his political opinions are part of the reason why a split with the band occurred. some took this spit as his direction was changing from the rest of the band and he also went in a new musical direction..morbid angel is a not a political band and his slight variance from the typical content of the bands lyrics was a mutual understanding among them hence they parted for the time being and it may have never meant to be a permanent parting at the time. so the whole idea of him having Nazi sympathies is far fetched if not speculation because of wearing a thorrs hammer.
"...a certain leader of the past whose name I shall not mention but whose spirit I embrace" is apolitical? Keep lying to yourself over and over if it helps you sleep at night. Vincent had some involvement with a racist, anti-immigration organisation in Tampa, Florida.
Alexander or Justin?
[edit]David Alexander Vincent? Or David Justin Vincent? Also, I think his real surname is "Stupping" —Preceding unsigned comment added by 193.1.229.15 (talk) 22:42, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
His birth name was David Vincent Stupnig...He changed it in 1985 to David Justin Vincent...I signed the name change as a witness...I have no idea where the Alexander came from. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 76.3.124.76 (talk) 00:46, 23 January 2008 (UTC)
