David Tyrell (born 9 October, 1988 in Brisbane, Queensland) is an Australian rugby league player currently contracted with the South Sydney Rabbitohs in the National Rugby League. He is currently on contract to train in Sydney with the Rabbitohs during the off-season and return to Brisbane to play his football with the Souths ex-feeder club the Easts Tigers throughout the year.
Tyrell started first began playing leagues rival code rugby union at Iona College in Brisbane, where in 2005 playing in the colleges 1st XV, he was selected for the Associated Independent Colleges side to compete in the Queensland School Boys trails. After his final year at college, Tyrell joined with Brisbane rugby league side the Easts Tigers in 2006. He started the year playing junior Colts and made his mark with a swag of tries in the first few matches. After a season ending injury to Queensland Cup winger Steve Beattie he was moved into the first grade side where he performed strongly. His strong first year playing competitive rugby league was recognised as he was awarded the prestigious Peter Gallagher Memorial Award for the most outstanding young player in the South-East Division. Many critics believe that with further hardwork and development he should make his NRL debut during the 2008 season.
