He was sent to the Royal Flying Corps (RFC) Station in Turnberry, Scotland to be trained in aerial gunnery.. I haven't found this particular part of Ingalls' story in the source materials I've seen. That's not to say that it didn't happen, but in any case there are some timing issues that would need to be sorted out.
