Date of Birth
[edit]David was born in 1916, not 1913.
Apparently there was an edit glitch when someone tried to introduce the new "infobox" for people on 17:28, 18 January 2014. The link is here:
Prior to this time, the DOB was consistently listed as 2016, as it was all the way until today in the "list of 2016 births" at the end of the article. It seems that over time, editors were "correcting" various pieces of the article to conform to the original edit glitch that introduced the error.
I knew David from my freshman year at Wesleyan in 1958 until his death in 2006, and visited him almost every year. I am confident that the 1916 date is correct as we discussed this when we found that he was born the year after my own father was born (1915). I have sent email to his daughter to check that this memory is absolutely correct. Bill Jefferys (talk) 03:43, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- 2016? GoodDay (talk) 03:46, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
- Oops. Thanks, GoodDay. It is so hard for us old folks to change millennia!
- I have received email from David's daughter, whom I have known for over 50 years. The correct date of birth for David P. McAllester is 1916. Bill Jefferys (talk) 04:37, 20 June 2015 (UTC)
