On the Piikoi side, very little personal history can be found. No records were discovered on David Piikoi as to birth or death dates, or anything on his married life with Kekaulike II. The only item located was, that in August of 1874, a full and free pardon with restoration of Civil Rights was granted to David Piikoi by King Kalakaua. He had been convicted and sentenced on October 24, 1865 for the crime of Larceny 2nd Degree. It is believed that this happened prior to his marriage to Kekaulike II. No details of further information could be located. Since he was of royal blood, it is presumed that all other records were probably long ago destroyed. {Kamae 1980, p. 41}
His photograph is authentic used at the Bishop Museum in a poster titled Royal Lineages of Hawai'i [1]
