Suspicious claim

[edit]

"Amy and Ben made it quite clear that they didn't want anything to do with the Christian rock scene."

Really?

When Entertainment Weekly interviewed Evanescence, Ben Moody said, "We're actually high on the Christian charts, and I'm like, What the f--- are we even doing there?"[1] But some have criticized the group for making previous statements and actions to the contrary regarding the infusion of Christianity into their music.[2] For instance, in a September 2000 interview with Stranger Things Magazine, Ben Moody said "We hope to express in our music that Christianity is not a rigid list of rules to follow only out of fear of an unseen deity who will strike you down at any given moment if you fail," and also "The message we as a band want to convey more than anything is simple—God is Love."[3] Reportedly, the band at one time approved of the decision for the album to be in the Christian market.[4] Terry Hemmings, CEO of the band's record company, was puzzled by Evanescence's about-face and said "They clearly understood the album would be sold in these [Christian music] channels."[5]

I don't think it's at all clear that they did not "want anything to do with the Christian rock scene." --Wade A. Tisthammer 04:45, 16 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Check the last question in this [6]interview with Amy, (also mentioned in the Labelling Controversy section of the Evanescence article.)
"When asked by Billboard in 2006 if Evanescence was a "Christian band," Amy Lee responded, "Can we please skip the Christian thing? I'm so over it. It's the lamest thing. I fought that from the beginning; I never wanted to be associated with it. It was a Ben thing. It's over.""

Picture?

[edit]

I found this picture of him on The Evanescence Reference that can be seen here. Would this be acceptable? Urgency 02:17, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Not really. That image is a promotional photo, and fair-use guidelines say that non-free images should not be used simply to illustrate living people. -- Huntster T@C 06:05, 27 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Shouldn't there be something about him co-writing songs with Skillet?

[edit]

David Hodges is credited with helping to write two songs on Skillet's album Rise. Shouldn't that be mentioned on here somewhere? 67.234.150.114 (talk) 16:51, 16 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
