[edit]I had heard that David Hayter had a bit part in Braveheart as well as Gladiator...Does anyone know if this is true?-----jmrudd1980@yahoo.com
Are they really the same person, the writer and the actor?
Pretty amazing, huh?
It seems that the author(s) of this page have confused David Hayter with Steven Jay Blum on several projects. It happens frequently, but they are indeed two different people. --User:The_S 10:46, October 23, 2005
E.A. Sports
[edit]I have heard he is also the voice of "E.A. Sports, It's in the game." at the start of every E.A. Sports game. Is this true? JP Godfrey 15:34, 18 January 2006 (UTC)
I've heard this rumor before, and I have also heard that it is false. However I can't be sure. If your not sure about it, you should probably remove it.--209.147.90.202 01:47, 12 February 2006 (UTC)
- He actually isn't the voice of EA Sports. THe voice is that of Andrew Anthony, and was confirmed to me by EAsports.com (through a customer service ticket) but also in an article on IGN back a few years. The article can be found here. http://ign64.ign.com/articles/161/161571p1.html As such, I'm removing this erroneous information from Hayter's page.Docbengal 02:01, 11 March 2006 (UTC)
- I have removed the E.A sports reference within the trivia section since it has been confirmed to be Andrew Anthony as the above poster mentioned. dudeyall 11:28 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- I could almost swear that I read Hayter confirm that it's him, something along the lines of "I was in the studio recording some lines, they asked me if I could try the 'EA Sports' line, and I did it." Has anybody else read this? Maybe he recorded the line but they used someone else's version? -Asriel 20:51, 2 November 2006 (UTC)
- I have removed the E.A sports reference within the trivia section since it has been confirmed to be Andrew Anthony as the above poster mentioned. dudeyall 11:28 27 July 2006 (UTC)
- THAT'S WRONG!!! I also spoke with IGN and David Hayter is the voice. User "Docbengal" didn't understand that Andrew Anthony did the voice for the TV commercials- that's it. It also says that right on that article from IGN. The line for the commercials is different; it says, "If it's in the game, it's in the game". Daivd Hayter does the voice for the EA games; it's even in the credits at the end of any EA Game that included that line. I'm adding it in. It's pretty funny how people are idiots and think they're all rough with their information. But I'm not like that. I'm done.
Indeed, it is wrong, adding such a thing would be a giant mistake
Trivia
[edit]I did a little rewording and grammatical editing to the trivia section. It still needs a little work, I think.
I removed the entire first trivia entry. The unverified statement about Kojima liking English voice acting doesn't seem worth noting in this article. I think it's also unlikely that English voice acting was used for Integral simply because Kojima may have liked Hayter's voice. The statements that the Japanese versions of MGS2: Substance and MGS3: Subsistence give the choice of either Japanese or English voice acting is, as far as I know, entirely untrue (unless the Wikipedia entries on those two games are incorrect), and they're really not relevant statements.
I removed the last sentence in the second entry: "However, many users were dissapointed when they learned the Soundtrack was reworked, if not, totally remade, as well." This is irrelevant.
Citations are also needed for the second and third (now first and second) trivia entries, but I don't know how to insert the "[citation needed]" into the article.
I also believe that the final statement in the biography section should either be moved into the trivia section, or removed altogether: "It is speculated that Hayter could play Solid Snake in the announced live-action Metal Gear Solid movie, or possibly work on the screenplay adaptation." This was simply some speculation by GameSpot, and shouldn't be in the biography, and the statement about Hayter possibly working on the screenplay is already mentioned in the trivia section.
--68.114.154.249 19:44, 5 June 2006 (UTC)
I am readding first one unless you could seriously find reason to find it unverifiable.
I have the actual article from magazine GameInformer. It is a Issue 104, revealing Integral's reason for English voice-work. This issue is one which also contains the interview based on the original third trivia. The back issue of 152 saids MGS2:S and MGS3:S has following info I have mentioned. Also, I have MGS2:S NTSC/DVD-Region 2 and it features English voice work.
--Dooly00000 21:22, 6 June 2006 (UTC)
So the magazine actually said that the reason for the English voices in Integral is because Kojima said he prefers English voices? If that's the case, then it's fine, but I think it should be mentioned in the article that Game Informer was the source of information, and not that it was simply a rumor. However, I still think this is simply something that should be on the MGS page, and not this page, unless Kojima specifically said he prefers Hayter over Akio Otsuka (Snake's Japanese voice actor).
As for the voices in Substance and Subsistence, I do know that the Japanese version of Substance has English voices and Subsistence has Japanese voices, but what you're saying is that they contain both Japanese and English voices. According to the Wikipedia articles on those games, and as far as I have always understood, this isn't the case. The Japanese version of Substance contains only English voices, and the Japanese version of Subsistence contains only Japanese voices.
I'll leave everything as it is for now.
--68.114.154.249 01:19, 7 June 2006 (UTC)
- You're right, it isn't the case - The Japanese version of Substance only contains English voices, and the Japanese version of Subsistence only contains Japanese voices. And this particular item doesn't really look like it belongs in the article. - DoubleCross 00:24, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
In that case I'm just going to edit the entry for now, but I won't delete it. I removed the incorrect information about Subsistence, and edited the sentence about Substance so that it says the game only contains English voice acting. As for the first part, I just reworded it to sound better, but I still think it should be moved to the Integral section of the MGS article (and the part that "Kojima might like David Hayter's voice better"--as if he actually gave an indication that he prefers the voice over Akio Otsuka--should be removed). -68.114.154.249 16:10, 9 June 2006 (UTC)
Metal Gear Solid 4
[edit]Any one know if he is doing the voice of Snake in the English version?--88.107.119.42 08:44, 13 August 2006 (UTC)
That's yet to be confirmed by Konami and Kojima Productions --Simsimius 19:06, 28 August 2006 (UTC)
But looking as Japanese uses same voice-actor as previous releases, likely, they'll use same voice actors. I think it'll make everyone happy (and makes people's life easier) also. --Dooly00000 (talk · contribs · count) 17:27, 09 September 2006 (UTC)

Super Smash Bros. Brawl
[edit]Was it ever confirmed that Hayter will voice Snake in this game? NeoSeifer
Yes he is if you watched the second trailer, snake and cambell have a chat talking bout him entering Smash brawl.--Hitamaru 01:19, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
What are you talking about? That conversation took place in the 1st trailer. On top of that, Snake and Campbell were voiced by their Japanese voice actors. NeoSeifer
There's no reason to suggest that he isn't going to voice him in SSBB, seeing how he hasn't not voiced every incarnation of Snake/Big Boss since MGS 207.118.66.241 17:43, 5 July 2007 (UTC)
Well, in the SSB series, characters that have English and Japanese voices (obviously, depending on the nation) in their respective series have always been voiced by their Japanese voices in the SSB series. Fox and Falco come to mind. On top of that, there hasn't been any official proof that Hayter will voice Snake in SSBB, despite the fact that Hayter has been voicing him for years. NeoSeifer
NOW, it has been confirmed. The webpage "GoNintendo" has revealed that in his YouTube account ("GuyverSnake"), someone asked David Hayter if he would voice Snake in SSBB. Here's the Q&A:
- Q: Hello David Hayter! I have to say that you are one of the greatest voice actors ever, and you do a great job as snake. I was wondering, are you going to voice Snake in Super smash bros. brawl?
- A: I am indeed voicing Snake in “Smash Bros.” I’ve recorded it already, and I believe that fans of both games are going to be extremely happy. It’s very cool. That’s all I can say.
There you go. NeoSeifer —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.122.14.135 (talk) 16:00, 30 September 2007 (UTC)
For even more confirmation, which isn't really needed anyway, go to his official website, clicking on the Metal Gear/Solid Snake button, where, amongst the Metal Gear games you can find Super Smash Bros. Brawl.--GaryCXJk 16:11, 2 October 2007 (UTC)
For even MORE confirmation, which also isn't really needed, go to the Smash Bros. DOJO!! website. There are 4 videos of Snake contacting the Colonel (two videos), Otacon, and Mei-Ling by codec. Snake is clearly voiced by David Hayter... and the others are voiced by their original English voice actors, as well. I know that this is off-topic, but I'm so relieved that Nintendo decided to hire the original voice actors for them in SSBB. This game will be colossal... Death rumors
[edit]"As of March 18, 2008 there have been rumors of his death which hasn't been confirmed or denied offically" is what it should say period point blank until we get more soruces
Not sure if those were actually rumors so much as some troll decided to hit up Hayter's wiki for laughs. Apparently, the troll left two "sources": 1) cnn.com and 2) LBGT magazine. 68.102.202.156 (talk) 03:02, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Correction: Death rumors are true. It has been stated in a Newspaper found in California called the Advocate on pages 2 & continued on page 23. The article is by Terry Shielding. Yet a press release went out today announcing his upcoming appearance at a convention. Something doesn't seem right here. —C.Fred (talk) 03:47, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Nor do the sources match up. One links to CNN, which says nothing on this. The other mentions an article in a paper which says that he was found dead. The paragraph says he was found unconsious and died later. And I can find no evidence of this papers existance. Something's messed-up. Lastbetrayal (talk) 03:53, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

- Both instances of the press release I've seen have been dated today. I also can't find any information on the Advocate. A news search (Google, on "david hayter") reveals no hits. I'm sorry, but at this point, it looks like it fails verifiability; without a reliable source, it has to come out of the article. —C.Fred (talk) 03:55, 21 March 2008 (UTC)

Wikipedia is not the place for speculation. Rumors don't belong here. Lastbetrayal (talk) 04:11, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
Who the hell are you. Are you a moderator, what do you do here. Plus we do not know if this is a rumor yet, but it could be true. The only reason I put rumor because of there is alot of disbelievers as well as belivers [1] [2] [3] as well as the facebook fan group. Until this is resolved and 100% clarified we should at least acknowledge it. Naers (talk) 04:16, 21 March 2008 (UTC)Naers
- Don't forget to be civil now. I am myself. No I am not. I usually try to correct vandalism in the vain hope that "lolz wikipedia" mentality will stop or lessen. Rumors are not verifiable. The amount of belivers and disbelievers means very little about this sort of thing. No, he's either dead or he's not. Lastbetrayal (talk) 04:25, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
- First "it could be true" implies that it's not known to be true. Wikipedia is not a venue for speculation. Second, any editor can raise a concern about the verifiability of an article (or whether it meets any other guideline). It is consensus among editors that determines what course to take - and I see pretty clear consensus that the death rumour is just that: a rumour without a reliable source. The only difference between an administrator and any other registered user is the ability of the admin to follow through on certain tasks, e.g. protecting the article against edits by unregistered users (which another admin has done because of all the edits by anonymous users). —C.Fred (talk) 16:48, 21 March 2008 (UTC)
However I'm not siding with him, but I did hear the anime [convention http://www.activeanime.com/html/content/view/2821/58/] about two weeks ago. This post is today, but it could be an error of news. - He did his voice work in the 2000 dub by Manga. Normally, "English version" would be sufficiently clear, but there are two English versions. Game advertisement possibly disguised as credit?
[edit]It seems like someone added "Retroninjacyberassassin" as a game credit.
